Juneteenth Day
No need to tell me
that I am free
As still I sit here
In these chains
Unapologetically Unorthodox
We are so bent
Upon being individualist
& beautiful in our own opinion
That your expectations of natural accordance
Does not exist…
& so persistently shall we insist
That who we are is who we are…
Regardless of your brackets.
It’s Time
It’s time for me to go home
It’s time for me to pray
It’s time for me to think
It’s time for me to say
Remember Me in Words
Paint my portrait in a thousand words,
In every color of my poetry.
Discard every tale you’ve ever heard
Of the perspectives that misrepresent me.
Who Me?
How do I better myself?
Starve off comfortability
To create parity within
To accept my flaws
and be humble in my strengths
