Weather’s A Person
By JP
Seasons are like people and not because they change.
They all have different traits some have snow, and some have rain.
Got to wear 3 jackets only winter for the blame.
Spring comes round to bring you summer which brings sunlight
through your window pane.
They like seasons and dislike them, they do the same with people
When your there they see no purpose; when you leave, they see they need you
Weether channels try to figure them out; people do the same to people
4 seasons 4 times through the year weather even has a sequel

Great rhythm and rhyme scheme. The line, “when you’re there they see no purpose / when you leave, they see they need you” was a powerful heel-turn; I didn’t expect the poem to take that sharp pivot and it kept me really interested to see where it was going next. I do really wish I had a channel to help me figure out other people (like the weather channel)! 🙂
This is a beautiful poem. I love how you use the metaphor comparing people to weather. I also love your perspective on it. If I thought about comparing people to the weather, I would only think about how they both change. However, you are right. People need the weather and each other and we often forget that until they are missing for a while. I really enjoyed your poem. Like the weather, I hope you write a sequel!
From the title alone I was drawn! I love the concept, love the rhymes. I caught myself saying “Maybe winters springing from the fall season, in hopes to find reasons as to why she’s this way”. Beautiful job personifying the seasons.
Hi JP,
I really liked your comparison of people to seasons. With everyone having different traits, I liked how you went even deeper and wrote about how we often do not appreciate the people we have until they leave. This is something that I feel like a lot of people do not realise, even when they are doing it. I also liked how you wrote about weather channels trying to figure out the weather, and people doing the same to other people. I feel like people spend so much time trying to figure out what other people are thinking/feeling, that they often get lost in it (I tend to do this more than I should). Your writing style is very admirable and has a good flow to it, and I think your creativity shows a lot through your writing with all of your metaphors. I believe writing has the potential to be such a useful tool when people are looking for an outlet, which can allow it to release any thoughts you may have that you wish to get off of your chest. Poetry allows for so much creativity, that I encourage you to continue writing poetry if it is something you enjoy. It is important to look for things that make us happy and provide us with relief, even when finding peace or comfort may be difficult. I recommend that if you are ever feeling stressed or you feel like you haven’t been able to do something you love in a while, to write down your thoughts or use your creativity to create poems like this one.
I really like the message of this poem. I never thought of people as seasons. Each season has its different traits, just like people. Some have rain, some have snow, some have sun, and some have all. You made a great comparison and the theme of this short piece of writing was clear and precise.
I really liked this poem, it caught my attention how the writer compared people to the seasons, I don’t think I would have ever thought of that until I read this but it makes so much sense. personally I really liked this whole poem I think it sent a great message and it was just very well written the writing style was really nice and it just brought many new thoughts that haven’t ever came to me before.
Hi JP,
I want to begin by saying your poem is so eye-opening. When looking at the title, I thought you would write about how people change. Sure, people are like seasons in that sense, but you connected these two even further. Seasons, like people, do have different traits. I never would have thought about something like this. Seasons are so unique, and can also be related to people. I really like how you brought up how you dislike some seasons, just like how people dislike people. Overall, this poem is so well written. It shows a deeper understanding and connection of two common things. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.
This is a super interesting premise for a poem, I’ve never thought about weather being like humans before! But from how you describe it it does make a lot of sense. I like the rhyme scheme in this poem and my favorite line has to be “Got to wear 3 jackets only winter for the blame”. It has a really nice rhythm and makes me think about how people protect themselves from being hurt by other people by using defense mechanisms and building a wall around themselves.
Hi JP. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful poem. I really liked the rhyme scheme you have in the first stanza. My favorite line is “when you leave, they see they need you”. This one really stuck out to me because sometimes people don’t realize how much a person means to them until that person is no longer around. Weather and seasons are never something I had thought have a deeper meaning, and now I realize how similar the Weather is to people. Beautiful work.
Hi JP,
I really liked your poem. This was short but full of so many thoughts on people. I personally also believe that people don’t change. From personal experience I know people deep-down can’t change so I think your perspective on people being like seasons is very throughout and developed. I think another aspect I thought of was that people can literally change during the seasons for like seasonal depression and such. I’m not sure just a thought! Really great job on this poem though!!
JP,
you do a great job with the comparison between humans and seasons. Your main idea in this poem seems to be that people are all different and that we must respect each other’s differences. I believe that it is important that we do this as in reality no two people are exactly the same. Instead of being angry at each other, we should celebrate our differences. Thank you for writing this.
I really like this poem, because it really highlights how we think of seasons as not only people with certain characteristics, but also gives them emotion. I can just picture winter as a calm yet stoic individual, who appears cold on the outside, yet has a warm heart. I can picture summer and spring as siblings, playing with each other before autumn comes to mess up their party. I can even see people liking the different seasons, not necessarily because of their superficial features, but because they can relate to their personalities.
I think this poem is so interesting because I’ve never thought of people like this. People will come into your life and make you cry, and angry, but also make you the happiest you’ve ever been and be your sunshine in life. Everyone has the ability to cause every emotion and sometimes you need someone that will make you feel the four seasons. You need people in your life who will push you to your limits and that will make you grow as a person. I think the thing that tells you that you need a person in your life is that they make you feel all four seasons, but you still stick it out with them, that means that its true. Thank you for sharing I loved your poem 🙂
This is interesting poem that compares the characteristics between humans and weathers. Indeed, there is a lot similarity between them and it reminds me that human can take inspirations and learn more from things that do not have life. Humans must adjust themselves in different environments just like each of the seasons . They can always choose to do what is best fitting of them and make the best out of it.
Hi! I enjoyed reading your poem. I would have never thought to make the connection between people and the weather. It was really innovative and made me think. Great Job!
People are like season. I agree with this because I do believe people are like seasons. They change whether we like it or not they change with new people new surroundings they change. Sometimes the change is not bad or in a bad intention, but they change to feel in place to not feel different to not feel left out. People sometimes even don’t know they change or realize they are acting different they just do it to not feel out of place where they at.
Weathers a person – I really like how you use the metaphor comparing people to weather. Relating it to people really made me realize how right you are and funny it is, I also liked how you wrote about weather channel, and trying to figure out the weather. People need the weather and each other and we often forget that until they are missing for a while.
Hi JP,
I think your concept of comparing seasons and people is super creative! Especially going beyond the typical “because they both change” and diving deeper into how they are treated by society. The second stanza really stood out to me, it took a turn from the first stanza and became more emotional. I hadn’t previously thought of seasons as being judged the same way as humans are, great job!
The fact that he implied seasons as people and not based in bipolar traits but based on personality or mask they have to protect themselves from the outside is immaculate. The line “Got to wear 3 jackets only for winter for the blame” he protected himself from blame which is a mask worn on the outside to not let the inside out/show. There are also people that will dislike a season that is projected within you and will see no purpose however when you leave they realize how needed you are which relates to relationships with a person and how they don’t value you for who you are. An endless cycle of being misunderstood or unvalued. “Wether channels try to figure them out; people do the same to people” just like channels try to figure out seasons throughout the year people try to figure out different people and their personalities. This poem holds a lot of information of peoples behaviors toward other peoples behaviors.
Wow, I love this poem, your use of metaphors is phenomenal, people are like seasons they are always changing either to be better or worse for themselves, I also enjoyed reading how you said we dont appreciate people until they are gone and that is so true, i never realized that until i read your poem!
To JP- This is such an interesting poem, not only is there imagery but there’s even rhyming which I haven’t seen as much of. Weather is such a strange phenomenon when you think about it. It can be sunny and warm one day and the next it could be raining or snowing and cold. Weather can also bring damaging issues to nature and even humans, but it also brings life. It’s interesting that you compared people to weather, it’s a sufficient comparison. We need other people just like we need the weather, and we end up missing the weather just like when we think about a good time with a person and start missing them. I’ve never thought of it like that so thank you for bringing a new perspective. Writing a poem like this can definitely be difficult but you aced it.
JP,
I love your comparison of weather to people. I agree with you. People have different traits or “seasons.” I’m not sure if this was what you intended to convey, but people also come into your life for a reason too. “Some people come into your life for a reason, but others for a season.”
I really enjoyed this poem in more than one way. The opening statement drew me, because it is something that if we think about we can relate too. I enjoy the use of rhyming as it let the poem flow nice and consistently. The personifcation of the seasons added emotions as you treated them and explainded them more as feelings than some experince or object.
Hey JP, I thought that the flow your poem has is amazing. It is interesting how you were able to compare people to seasons. This is a unique comparison because you go deeper with the meaning. Weather and people go through lots of changes overtime, some do not realize the change while others do. Great job and thank you for writing this!
JP,
You wonderfully capture the dichotomy of people. Somehow that are both consistent and tumultuous at the same time. They enter and they exit throughout our lives. Keep writing!
Excellent job JP and hello again. I agree that seasons are like people. To me they change like people change. You say they all have different traits some have snow, and some have rain. To me, the people who have snow can be beautiful people but also not so nice people by being cold like snow. It’s truly amazing that the seasons give humans a unique perspective or ability like traits on life even though it comes from just four seasons but every season is connected in some way that affect the weather inside a person. People can be and act like hurricanes and tornadoes with the storm brewing inside of them while the rain inside them makes them sad such as going through loss of depression. It’s very interesting that you say when you’re there, they see no purpose; when you leave, they see they need you. This reminds me of something maybe that you are the season’s and weather’s creator. It’s cool to know that even weather has a sequel.
Very interesting to compare people to the weather! I thought it might just be because people change like the seasons/weather. I really like the insightfully deep line you included towards the end : “When your there they see no purpose; when you leave, they see they need you”. That definitely had a punch to it.
I really like the use of parallelism between seasons and humans. Not even because seasons change and so can people, but because seasons offer different things and so can people. I think that was a great way to start off the poem because I thought seasons were being compared to people because of how they change so it threw me in for a loop, but a good one.
The use of seasons as a metaphor for people is interesting and adds depth to the poem. It allows for the exploration of different traits and behaviors associated with seasons, and how they can be compared to human characteristics. this is something that is very true and I have never considered, it really makes the readers think. The poem captures the idea that people, like seasons, can be unpredictable and have different traits and behaviors. It also highlights the human tendency to sometimes take things for granted and the realization of their importance when they are gone.
I like the analogy of comparing people to seasons. In some parts of the seasons, you may like the same way in people and in some parts of seasons, you don’t like the same way in people as well. People can make or break you.
JP,
I absolutely loved your comparison of people and the weather, what a wonderful what to describe humans. “When your there they see no purpose; when you leave, they see they need you” this line really stood out for me because as humans we so often are unappreciative of things until they are gone. Your flow and rhyming was really incredible. I hope you will continue to write and share your story and perspective.
This poem creatively compares the changing of seasons with the changing nature of people and their relationships. Weather-related imagery and metaphor add depth and interest to the piece.
This is genuinely such a beautiful poem. I love how you compare people to weather, to seasons. Our behavior to weather is so similar to our behavior to people. This was such an eye opening and I had to sit back and think about it. Loved it so very much.
JP, your poem is a delight to read, the rhyme and rhythm sounds nice to read aloud, as a good poem should. I like the idea of weather having a sequel.
Hi JP, I really enjoyed this poem. I especially liked the line, “When your there they see no purpose; when you leave, they see they need you.” It really hits the point that we as people always forget to appreciate what is around us in the moment, Whether it be the weather outside or someone in our life; it’s like the second it leaves or changes we are thrown into this spiral of guilt for not appreciating it in the moment. Yet, the new season/person comes along and we repeat the same routine. It’s even more confusing to be aware that we do this, but continue to do it ourselves. This poem really made me reflect about some things going on in my life and for that I am grateful. Thank you for sharing!
JP, I really liked reading your poem. It really brought a whole new perspective on how we can view life. I like how you brought a deeper meaning to how we can connect humans to weather and bring it all together
“When you’re there they see no purpose; when you leave, they see they need you”, speaks dividends man!! Love this analogy of people are like seasons. Always changing.
I like the personification you used to make it seem like weather is real and provides you with whatever you need at certain times throughout the year. The poem’s structure was also very well-organized, nice job!
Hi JP,
I really enjoyed this poem! I like the way you made so many aspects relate to humans as well. I think my favorite line was “When your there they see no purpose; when you leave, they see they need you” God does that hit hard. It’s so sad that we do that to one another, we don’t notice how good we have it with people until they leave and it’s only then that we realize we needed them. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve never heard someone describe people as seasons before, but I really like this perspective. Some people are naturally warm or naturally cold, and neither is bad. Both are necessary in their own ways. Thank you for this insight!
JP,
This is truly such a creative and incredible poem. I really love your theme of comparing people to seasons and the idea that all people change and bring something new to the table just as seasons do. I love your slight touches of rhyme in the poem and I think that it brought another fun spect to your poem. Your diction is great in creating such vivid images for the reader and I truly could picture the seasons as you described some of their traits. I really think you did an incredible job with this poem and you have a real talent when it comes to writing and choosing words. I loved reading this and do truly think you did a great job!
JP, your poem draws the parallels between seasons and human relationships, emphasizing the similarities in their characteristics and dynamics. The simple imagery shows that seasons possess distinct traits and show different emotions. This poem offers a thoughtful reflection on the connection between nature and human experience.
Hello! I really enjoyed reading your poem. I like the rhyming that was used and the message.
