Feelings

By TR

I can’t cry
So when it rains, I run outside
Look up to the sky, let the
Rain drops flow into my eyes
“Like I’m really crying!”
Tear drops don’t exist
Love turns to pain
Feelings into emotions
When would I let it all out emotionally?
Because my anger keeps provoking me
I wouldn’t care if you didn’t say
‘Hi’ to me
A couple of my Brodies died without
Saying ‘goodbye’ to me
Pressure busts pipes, but I remain
Strong in both heart and arms
But still put my feelings & love in every
D*MN POEM!

Your poem really spoke out to me. You are a strong person from what I read, you keep to yourself emotionally and don’t express much but you express so well in your poetry. I am honored to read your poem, please do continue to write more.

Hello, thank you for sharing this heartfelt poem. Through reading this I could resonate with the strength you are showing and have showed, to get through the moments you have discussed in the poem. The use of metaphors was brilliant to encapsulate the feelings and thoughts of the poem.

Your poem touched me deeply. It is so full of the truth about how we all pressure ourselves with the things we keep inside and how they somehow escape in some form. Your writing is very special! Keep writing! You have a lot to share and letting your feelings and love out in your poems can be life saving. Some people reading your poem may very well feel less alone because of what you were able to so beautifully express. Thank you for sharing this.

If you find it hard to express yourself in other ways, then I’m glad you put your feelings and love in every poem. It’s good to find an outlet, and it sounds like you have a really artistic interpretation of what you’re going through. I would like to read your poems here again, if you feel the want to keep writing, please do! I like your word choice 🙂

  5. Maddie on May 31, 2021 at 5:40 PM

TR, I admire how you let your emotions show through in this poem. Letting feelings out in the real world is often much harder to do, so I understand what you’re saying here. It’s great to have an outlet like this, and it’s great to be able to share with people like me and the other Free Minds readers! This is a moving poem, and I hope you continue to use this outlet to express yourself. Stay well!

I love this poem. It really come from a place of passion the way I read it. I’m someone who’s told a lot that I’m overly emotional and sensitive, but the biggest way I express those emotions are through tears. And crying makes some people uncomfortable and some may demean you as a result. It’s interesting reading your poem from the opposite perspective longing to be cable to express your emotions in that manner. Thanks for opening up this way.

  7. Jarraed Allen on June 10, 2021 at 3:51 PM

Very deep and enjoyed reading your poem. You described how you can’t show emotions because of anger inside you so you use poems to express your feelings and emotions.

    Hey TR,

Your poem is so relatable. Sometimes we are deep within our feelings to the point of numbness; as if we can’t give a reaction. Crying is an action that comes easy to some when in pain; but for others it might be yelling out into the void or trying to create that melancholic feel with rain. I’m normally a crier but I’ve had my fair share of numbness. I’m glad you use your poetry as a vessel to let out that pain. Sometimes writing it out can be easier than having to carryout the performance of tear stained cheeks. Keep writing!

P.S. Sending my condolences to those you have lost.

I really enjoyed reading this poem TR. I can relate to some of the things you spoke about and I have felt a lot of these emotions as well. It can be frustrating having to keep all of these emotions bottled up or not knowing how/when to let it all out. However, I’m glad you were able to find comfort in expressing yourself through poems. You’re very good at conveying what emotions you’re feeling to the audience and it really makes your poem come together.

  10. Samantha on June 30, 2021 at 11:18 PM

    TR,

I could really feel the pain and sorrow you were expressing in this poem. It felt like I could hear your voice crying out as you wrote each line. I appreciated this very emotive poem!!!

    Best,

    Samantha

    Hi TR🙂
I hope you are doing well. This poem is really interesting and deep. I like the rawness of this poem. I can appreciate the use of personal experience to get a point across.I reread this poem multiple times just to feel the rhythm of this poem. Nice job

  12. Brittani on July 13, 2021 at 6:43 PM

I agree. TR seem very strong and an emotionally guarded person. I love that they express that through this poetry. Keep writing

  13. Justin Lambert on July 20, 2021 at 1:15 PM

I really connected with this poem because of how men are often never given the proper outlet to express their emotional turmoil. This is probably one of the ways to do so in a healthy and constructive manner. I am just glad that you have been able to pour all that hurt into something that can give comfort to others.

  14. Anshoo Mehra on August 4, 2021 at 2:37 PM

Very deep and emotional, Really pulls out the feelings after losing someone loved. Its really impressive how those feelings which could not be spoken have poured out of you and created this beautiful poem.

  15. Maxine Cassell on August 18, 2021 at 10:27 PM

    TR,

Your poem has wonderful emotion behind it and I like that you are using the poem as your form of expression because you don’t show emotion. I throughly enjoyed the powerful ending you had just by capitilizing the last two words. It shows how much you deeply care and that writing these poems is a release of everything you are feeling. And to look back at it is beautiful. It is beautiful that you have found a way to express everthing without holding back. There is no judgement from the pen and paper you use, and that is powerful. Thank you for expressing yourself, and please keep writing.

  16. Alex Waltman on August 19, 2021 at 10:31 AM

Man I get this, I can’t cry even when I want to and I don’t know why. It builds up but never is released. I miss being emotional, because life’s harder when your not. Stay strong, but don’t be afraid to let the pipes flow when you need to.

  17. Brigitte on August 19, 2021 at 10:33 AM

I relate to this a little too much like I barely let out any emotions because I have for so long suppressed them inside
Kt takes a lot for me to begin opening up to someone
Your use of poetry as an outlet just might be my solution for the tying these pent up feelings out
I only cry a few times a year and sometimes I wonder if ppl think I don’t care but I do it’s just hard to show sadness when I just don’t wanna put people down

  18. Hart on August 19, 2021 at 10:35 AM

While I can’t attest to the same level of hardship as you, I still share the feeling of bottled-up emotions and struggling to come to terms with them. Your poem conveys a triumphant approach to this issue and has inspired me to attempt to do likewise. Thanks for sharing.

  19. Anna on August 19, 2021 at 10:37 AM

I too struggle with expressing my emotions. I prefer bottling them up, so I can continue with my day to day life, but I realize more now, how essential it is to express ourselves, whether through tears or heartfelt poetry. I think you described your feelings beautifully and I hope it was therapeutic for you as well. I sometimes have really horrible days too when I just feel numb and I don’t care, but every bad day only lasts 24 hours. Everything has to improve eventually. I’m sorry to hear about your friends passing away. I hope you can continue to channel those feelings of loss and grief into some more incredible and provoking poetry.

  20. Adriana on August 19, 2021 at 10:41 AM

Your poem really spoke to me as a person who couldn’t share my feelings at home. I started writing poems as a way to divert my tears and get out everything I bottled inside of me, so I definitely relate to that. Your poem shows your strength and resilience in what can be an unjust and unforgiving world, and never let anyone take a pen and paper away from you.

  21. Marc-Joelitza (Joelie) on August 19, 2021 at 10:45 AM

What I love most about this poem, is being able to read it from the perspective of someone who feels their emotions oppositely. I read this poem in the perspective of someone who cries so easily, who cries so much, and who sometimes can’t control the amount of tears that fall from their eyes. At one point in my life, I use to wish that I could change that about myself. I use to wish that I could harden my skin, dry my eyes so that tears wouldn’t fall from them. I use to wish that I no longer could feel. In that point of time, my sadness started to develop into anger. And the same way how you described that “pressure bursts pipes”, I felt that happening to me. My sadness built up inside… and it end up exploding into anger outburst. But what I. learned, is that crying is actually one of the most healthiest things you can do. Society tells you that you’re weak for it. But in reality, crying makes you more human. And it is sometimes through tears, that we bond closely with those around us.

Thank you for sharing this poem. This poem feels powerful and shows the power of emotions. I really enjoyed reading this poem.

Your poem really spoke out to me . Reading the poem I felt like i was reading it from a perspective of a strong man . I can relate to your poem in many ways emotionally and things I have been through myself. I hope that others going through these challenging moments can read your poem and know they are not the only ones going through whatever it is they are going through.

  24. nisha on October 17, 2021 at 3:49 PM

This poem was very strong and it shows you are strong too. I understand the feeling of keeping the emotions to yourself, and it just goes to show that other people also go through that. I am sorry to hear that your friends passed away, keep being strong. I enjoyed this poem

  25. Al on October 17, 2021 at 5:13 PM

    Dear TR,

Thank you for sharing your poem. It is really difficult to face emotions and it is easy to invalidate or dismiss thoughts in the process of going through difficult times. Your poem is beautiful and showcase a vast variety of emotions and feelings.

  26. Chynel on November 2, 2021 at 1:17 PM

One thing this poem made me think about is how we all have different ways of expressing our emotions. Some people may not cry or pout, but they may seek poetry or other forms of writing as an outlet. As long as we learn to express them in some way, it doesn’t matter what form it takes. Thank you for sharing your outlet.

  27. Jasmine Myles on November 19, 2021 at 1:31 PM

Hello TR, I really loved your poem! I like how you describe that you go outside into the rain because you can’t cry. I also like that you love turns into pain and feelings into emotion. This is so true and I love how you express that. I can relate to you about holding your anger inside and I pray that your life gets better and I wish nothing but the best for you!

  28. Flynn on December 3, 2021 at 1:52 PM

TR, Amen! it is taught for males in today’s society that we cannot cry or we sound weak or will be looked down upon, but really it should be the exact opposite. If some of my brothers died before I could say goodbye, it would be devastating on me as well. I’m glad you found an outlet for that grief, and I think you should use more all caps words, you use them very effectively.

  29. Brook on December 12, 2021 at 10:21 PM

Thank you for showing your emotions in this poem. Your topic is very relatable because so many people struggle with showing their feelings. I think it is incredibly brave that you are able to be so raw in your poetry. Please stick with it, it seems to be a real outlet for your emotions. We as humans cannot keep everything inside.

  30. Maddie on January 10, 2022 at 11:01 PM

You really put into words the feeling of keeping your emotions inside. It’s tough knowing that you can burst at any moment. But, I hope writing this poem helps with whatever you’re going through! It is a beautiful poem. You are a very strong person.

  31. Adam on February 6, 2022 at 11:34 PM

The image of letting the sky do your crying for you is so powerful. Thank you for sharing it.

  32. Anna Kathryn Speck on February 15, 2022 at 12:32 PM

I can see how much passion you have about your poem, this really stood out to me because of the way your poem was set up. I can see how many challenging events you have gone through in your life and writing about this will help you to overcome this problem. Many people have connected with this poem and connected with you as a writer but also as a person.

  33. Kora on May 31, 2022 at 9:59 PM

    TR,
this is some great writing about emotions, pain, loss, and fear of vulnerability. It is very lyrical and definitely needs a beat behind it. I particularly like the beginning of the poem about crying in the rain so no one can see. I hope you continue writing and using it as an outlet for your emotions.

  34. Julia Santosuosso on October 11, 2022 at 12:25 AM

This poem honestly spoke to me very deeply. Sometimes it is very hard to allow ourselves to express or fully feel our emotions, especially when we know those emotions will hurt. But that’s what makes poetry like this so wonderful; we are able to write the things we cannot feel and express the thoughts that nobody may even realize we’re having. I find that very special so thank you so much for sharing your work.

  35. Jade on October 16, 2022 at 2:24 PM

Thanks for this poem. I guess I relate a bit that sometimes it’s hard to show emotion. I really liked where you say
    “I can’t cry
So when it rains, I run outside”.
Sometimes I find that rain really does feel like the sky is crying. It changes the vibe and can affect feelings for sure. Please keep writing!

  36. Jill on October 23, 2022 at 5:07 PM

This poem shows deep emotions and how some people feel like that have to hold everything inside and not show these emotions. I think by writing poems is your way of coping with these emotions which is a great way to express these feelings and be able to talk about what you are thinking. I like the wording that you used in this poem and I hope you stick with writing them. Stay strong and keep up the great work!

  37. Anna on October 30, 2022 at 6:54 PM

TR, this poem was so emotional, yet powerful! I really enjoyed it and am happy I got the chance to read it. I can feel how much you truly mean every word as I am reading it. Thank you for sharing this!!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us about grief and loss through your poem. Very emotional. It is very hard to lose the ones we love without receiving a goodbye.

  39. aaliyah on November 8, 2022 at 1:25 PM

Hello TR, your poem was fun to read, and it was a great poem. I wanted to start off by saying I agree with the point you made on how anger provokes you from letting all your emotions out, I think everyone at least once in their life has experienced a moment like this but it’s never a good feeling. At the end of your poem when you said, “is till put my feelings and love in every damn poem” and I think that’s because it’s easier to write out our feelings rather than talking about them. I think there’s somethings that you just can’t say in words that writing can fix. Its another type of therapy is what I see it as. And the best part is if you don’t want to no one has to even see it either. you can write it and get it all out and never even tell a soul. However, it’s good to get your emotions out, like you said in your poem “pressure busts pipes” it’s bound to happen sooner or later the more you hold things in. emotions can be very overwhelming to deal with, and sometimes might be the scariest thing to deal with, but you can always take it at the pace that you feel most comfortable with. Thank you so much for sharing this poem!
I wish you well! – Aaliyah.

Hello TR your poem really hit home with me and made me go back into time when I was younger. It was very hard for me to express my feelings especially with a father who was unkind towards me when it comes to showing emotion. I really do relate to this and to let you know there is help out that. One big thing was definitely talking it out to someone. I hope you keep writing poems for everyone to read

  41. PH on March 22, 2023 at 8:39 PM

It’s amazing that sometimes we can’t cry even though we want to cry. It’s interesting that you say tear drops don’t exist. Love easily turns to pain but love easily wins always. Anger definitely clouds our judgement and makes us act so tougher than we have to be. I can feel for you that you want to have someone put your feelings and love in every poem.

  42. Samoht on April 15, 2023 at 7:06 PM

It takes courage to express oneself through poetry, especially when dealing with emotions that are difficult to face. It’s important to remember that crying and showing vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but rather a strength. Holding emotions in can be damaging in the long run, so it’s good to find healthy ways to release them. Running in the rain can be therapeutic, but also consider talking to someone you trust or seeking professional help if needed. Keep writing and expressing yourself through your poetry, it can be a powerful tool for healing and growth.

  43. Matthew Handley on April 16, 2023 at 11:11 PM

    TR,

Wow, what a powerful poem. I find that a lot of us bottle up our emotions and don’t let them out. I find the imagery of you running outside during a rainy day to have the rain drops trace down your face like tears to be really relatable. Sometimes we want the sadness to flow out, but it just wont come. Your poem uses powerful word choice that makes it really impactful. I’m glad that you’re able to use poetry as a way to release these emotions, and I hope to read another poem of yours in the future.
