Remember Me in Words

By TT

Paint my portrait in a thousand words,
In every color of my poetry.
Discard every tale you’ve ever heard
Of the perspectives that misrepresent me.
Capture my smiles and frowns
In angled letters of passion…
Full of bold print and pain𑁋
Italics embellishing eternal change.
Paint me opaque.
Remember me in a million ways…
As a nomadic soul
Constantly shifting in a human frame.

This poem resonated with me especially the line “Discard every tale you’ve ever heard, Of the perspectives that misrepresent me.” As I have grown as a individual and have begun to shape my own identity I have realized that held on to other peoples perspectives of me. I was chained to other peoples validations and how they would paint me as a person. Most of the time these people don’t even know me for real and only know the version of the mask I put on. I also loved the line “Remember me in a million ways…As a nomadic soul”. As someone who is free-spirited I have accepted the fact that I am constantly changing and shifting as a individual, and that is where I find the true beauty in my existence. Being able to have all these different outlooks on life, clanging what my interests are, and always being curious to want more and learn more is what drives me as a person. Very touching piece!

I love this poem! The rhyme scheme is perfect, and your descriptions are so imaginative!

    Hi TT,
You write so vividly here. Art can capture emotion in multiple mediums, so it’s profound how you wrote about art in poetry as a means of self expression, when poetry is the vehicle for the expression itself.
    Great poem 🙂

    Dear TT,
Your poem “Remember Me in Words” is a vibrant and soulful call to be seen and remembered authentically through the lens of your own poetry. The imagery of painting a portrait with “a thousand words” in “every color” of your voice is stunning, evoking a vivid, multifaceted self that defies misrepresentation. I love how you weave smiles, frowns, and pain into “angled letters of passion,” with bold print and italics capturing both intensity and transformation—it feels so alive and raw. The idea of being “painted opaque” and remembered as a “nomadic soul” in a “human frame” speaks beautifully to the complexity and fluidity of identity. Thank you for crafting such a powerful and evocative piece that invites us to honor your essence in all its shifting, colorful truth.

I really love this poem. The creativity from different angles really incorporates the idea of self-identity and self-expression in a variety of ways.

  6. Valerie Rodriguez on May 14, 2025 at 12:24 AM

Your poem painted such a strong image of someone trying to reclaim their identity from stereotypes. I loved the line “Paint my portrait in a thousand words,” it reminded me of how society often tries to define us without knowing us. The idea of being “a nomadic soul / constantly shifting” felt powerful, like you’re saying your identity can’t be boxed in.

  7. ASN on May 14, 2025 at 12:08 PM

“Paint my portrait in 1000 words…”

Gosh, I love that opening! It’s such an interesting thought to ask for a portrait crafted by words (metaphorically), since words can ‘breathe’ and evolve, or maybe more in tune with the context, explain (like in lines 3-4). Words can be more honest and encompassing. When reading this, I also thought back to the saying, “A picture is worth a 1000 words”.

  8. francis on May 14, 2025 at 1:04 PM

I really like this idea you are creating of starting over. To throw away any story of you that does not encapsulate who you are as a person now. Change is a good thing and especially where you can pinpoint what aspect of yourself changed, in the terms of you writing poetry, I and others can see that you have grown. Capturing finer parts of your character, in terms of smiles and frowns is an important line to me because I feel like that could change peoples perspective, not only with you but with everyone.

  9. Alexei Z on May 14, 2025 at 11:12 PM

I really enjoyed your poem. So often, people’s perceptions of us are not an accurate representation of who we are at our core. Poetry and any expression of art are such powerful tools to share our innermost thoughts and show who we really are. Thank you for sharing this experience, and I hope you feel more understood as you continue to share your writing.

  10. Claire Daignault on May 15, 2025 at 5:03 PM

Your poem really makes me think about how we all have the power to change and grow. I love how you talk about taking off your mask to show the real you.

I like how your poem shows that it’s okay to have flaws and still be strong. It makes me feel inspired to be more true to myself.

  12. Shannon O'Connor on May 19, 2025 at 2:17 PM

TT, thank you for this poem. I love the image of a nomadic soul, changing, growing, and shifting while constrained within a human frame. We are all limited by our human frame in this way, and this poem highlights this universal experience. I loved the imagery of painting your true, enigmatic nature in different styles of font and types of words & letters. You express yourself very well though poetry. Write on!

  13. Tasia on May 23, 2025 at 9:25 AM

TT, this is a beautiful poem. I love the way you quite literally painted a picture with your expansive word choice. The language you chose created such texture and diversity in the poem, and it really helped me understand the different perspectives through which you’re viewed.

  14. Asha on May 25, 2025 at 5:53 PM

    Hi there,
Your poem is so powerful. I love the contrast of the ways in which visual art better represents your identity, and simultaneously how you utilize your words as a way to explain your feelings and sense of self. It really made me think about how we describe others and ourselves, and the power of both words and illustrations in unison to express ourselves. I also love the specific word choice. I thought “nomadic” was such an interesting choice, and it really helped me to picture your words.

  15. Mike on May 29, 2025 at 9:57 PM

TT this point makes me think of an individual’s legacy and what it means. You speak strongly to how you would want to be remembered. It serves as a powerful reminder that we are not here for long and we live on in the thoughts of others.

  16. Chloe Wade on June 10, 2025 at 11:13 PM

This poem has amazing word choice and vivid imagery. The use of “nomadic soul” really captures my attention. Your use of punctuation is also unique and interesting. Overall an outstanding poem.

  17. Maddie on June 17, 2025 at 11:41 AM

I seriously love how descriptive you are, like when’s the book coming out. Aside from that I know this piece is probably about your personal perspective, but it’s truly relatable. It captures how we all long to be seen as more than what is known about us at face value, which is deeply compelling.

  18. Christopher D. Sims on July 7, 2025 at 3:38 PM

Beautifully written! Abstract, yet grounded and real. Too many of us in today’s world judge. We judge another often without ever really getting to know each another. They say never judge a book by its cover. May we stop some day with the poisonous narratives we create about people and learn to get to know each other on much deeper levels! Your poem shines a light on your truth and deserves to be heard, read, and respected.

Keep speaking your truth and speaking truth to power!

  19. Mahi Patel on September 8, 2025 at 9:56 AM

This poem feels like a call to be seen for who you really are, not through others’ assumptions. The idea of painting with words instead of colors makes it creative and emotional at the same time. I like how it shows both movement and change, like the “nomadic soul” that keeps growing and evolving. It’s simple but carries a lot of depth about identity and self-expression.

  20. Aarush Sanap on September 8, 2025 at 10:44 AM

This poem is gentle yet powerful. It asks to be remembered not through rumors or false stories, but through authentic expression and poetry. The imagery of words painting portraits shows how writing can capture emotions, change, and identity in a lasting way.

  21. Karishma Subramanian on September 8, 2025 at 11:24 PM

This poem reminded me to live every day of my life like how I would like to be remembered. We are all human and have emotions. However, it is important that we strive to do our best to give every day our all and be the best version of ourselves as we can.

  24. scarlett on September 18, 2025 at 11:15 AM

I really like how you reshape people’s image of yourself, especially with the line “Discard every tale you’ve ever heard of perspectives that misrepresent me.” This is so straightforward and beautifully gets the point across. I also like how the poem feels like you are speaking to the reader because it makes it very personable. Also, these lines feel like directions for what you need from us as readers and the world, so the use of punctuation feels intentional to shape these hopes.

  25. Kunal on September 20, 2025 at 2:54 PM

  28. Shilvi Shah on September 21, 2025 at 4:03 PM

    Hi,
I really like your poem and how it explains how one should be portrayed through their own emotions and experiences rather than other people’s views. It represents how other’s peoples perspectives should not dictate how you should be seen. It expresses both strength and constant change.

  29. Vidyansh Mishra on September 21, 2025 at 4:18 PM

  31. Juhi Jha on September 21, 2025 at 10:55 PM

This poem is good because it uses vivid imagery to show how words can capture a person’s true self better than rumors or appearances. From it, we get a sense of constant growth and the importance of being remembered authentically.

  32. Bruce Hunt on September 26, 2025 at 12:04 PM

I like how loudly there seems to be an implied message here, that the author is frustrated with the world that judges too simply, too superficially, too quickly. The content is polite and respectful, but beneath the surface there seems to be a lot of frustration and energy.

  33. Rishabh jain on September 27, 2025 at 10:31 AM

This poem really stood out to me. I love how you connect writing and memory, especially in lines like “paint my portrait in a thousand words” and “italics embellishing eternal change.” The contrast between bold print and italics was powerful, showing both strength and vulnerability. The ending about being a nomadic soul constantly shifting in a human frame felt especially moving, almost like you are capturing the idea that identity is always evolving. I think it’s such a heartfelt and vivid piece, and I really enjoyed reading it.

  35. Keshvi Gandhi on September 28, 2025 at 5:55 PM

This one feels like an ode to selfhood in motion. Asking to be remembered not by static stories, but by the living, shifting textures of experience. The metaphor of being “painted” through words is so striking. It shows how identity is art and evolution, never fully captured but always expressed. The boldness, pain, and constant change make it deeply human and beautifully layered.

  36. Shruti Bhalerao on September 28, 2025 at 7:29 PM

I like how this poem uses writing itself as the canvas, turning words into colors and angles. The mix of bold, italics, and shifting imagery shows identity as layered and constantly changing, never fixed in one story.

  37. Ananya Gunda on September 28, 2025 at 10:54 PM

I really enjoyed this poem — it felt both personal and relatable. I like how you use words to “paint” yourself, showing things that pictures or other people’s views can’t. The part about smiles and frowns in bold and italics really stood out, because it shows how people are full of different emotions and changes. The ending about being a “nomadic soul” was a beautiful way to show that identity is always moving and growing.

This poem captures the perception of ones self against the perception of others. People believe they know you and paint you in a certain light, but that is not how you think you view yourself. You are who you think you are. Your personality is ever changing and YOU are the one who controls that.

  42. Shreya Bhatlapenumarti on October 17, 2025 at 5:43 AM

  43. Kenna Reed on October 17, 2025 at 9:23 PM

Hey TT, when I was reading your poem, I noticed you used a lot of strong and emotion-evoking metaphors. For example, when you say “painted in words,” it’s vivid and original, and it perfectly captures the poem’s themes and expressions. Your tone is also confident but reflective. In this poem, you show vulnerability and self-awareness.

  44. Praagna Pydimarri on October 20, 2025 at 10:52 AM

Beautifully introspective; this poem feels like a self-portrait in motion. The imagery of “painting with words” and “angled letters of passion” blurs art and identity, showing how language becomes the canvas for self-expression. Its tone is graceful and reflective, capturing the fluid, ever-evolving nature of being.

  45. Savanna Austin on October 23, 2025 at 2:41 PM

I love how it explores identity as fluid and multifaceted, refusing to be confined by others’ perceptions. The imagery of painting with words, colors, and typography makes the speaker’s experience feel vivid and alive. It’s inspiring to see someone claim their complexity and embrace change, reminding us that people are always evolving and can’t be captured in just one story.

  48. zoe on October 26, 2025 at 8:37 PM

This poem hits deep. It’s like you’re saying, “Don’t define me by what you’ve heard, see me for who I really am.” The way you compare writing to painting is super creative, and the line “bold print and pain” really stands out; it feels raw and real. I like how it shows that you’re always growing and changing, not stuck in one version of yourself. It’s got this mix of strength and honesty that feels really human.

  52. Sri on November 9, 2025 at 5:09 PM

I love how you talk about being “painted” through language instead of image — like your identity is made of motion, punctuation, and change. The “nomadic soul in a human frame” line especially sticks — it feels like being known beyond what people assume.

  53. Ayush Patel on November 10, 2025 at 2:22 PM

Your poem feels like a self-portrait and an ode to identify as art, ever-changing. I appreciate how you incorporate the technical aspects of writing that you likely think about often as a writer, such as italics and bold font. I kind of read it as you wanting to be forever memorialized as a poem, especially when you say to capture your smiles and frowns in letters of passion, expressing yourself through bolds, italics, opaqueness.

Your use of imagery like “paint my portrait in a thousand words” and “angled letters of passion” convey emotion, change, and complexity that all exist inside your voice. Your writing pushes against misrepresentation while embracing being seen in a truer way. The closing lines about being a “nomadic soul” shifting within a “human frame” are particularly powerful as they capture the idea that identity is continuously moving, growing, and refusing to be simplified. This is a thoughtful and expressive piece that truly stays with the reader.

The final lines capture a powerful truth—being human is a constant evolution, a shifting spirit inside a temporary form. I love this line “In every color of my poetry” because it speaks to the rainbow that is our life. For so many life is black and white, but for me life is a rainbow of colors and experiences.

  77. Sidney on February 11, 2026 at 10:01 AM

This poem is beautiful, it feels like a message that a person is more than just one moment, they are a collection of stories throughout their entire life. And that people deserve to be remembered for all of their stories not just one.

  78. Dominic on February 12, 2026 at 2:08 PM

Your poem is full of symbolism and inspiration towards change. In your first two stanzas I notice your word choice relating to colors. I find that very clever as colors have such an effect on how we perceive emotion, and it allows the reader to imagine the colors your poetry may portray.
Moving towards the middle you create a sense rebirth and change, like you are ready for a new beginning leaving all that has tainted your life behind you. I can appreciate the diction you use creating repetition through different terminology used in writing such as Bold, Italics, and Letters. This embodies the title of your work and wraps the meaning around Remember Me in Words.
The ending is what really spoke to me as a reader. A nomadic soul, someone who moves around and fills themselves with experiences worthy of a lifetime. I can admire the wisdom and hard work you put into your poetry. This was a truly powerful piece, and I really enjoyed reading it.

  79. Marissa Michaels on February 17, 2026 at 9:32 PM

I like that the final imperative is remember, because that is really what the other ones lead up to.

  80. Josie on February 19, 2026 at 6:51 PM

You are a great poet, and this is shown through the words you use when describing how you perceive yourself versus how others perceive you. I love how you say “discard every tale you’ve ever heard, of the perspectives that misrepresent me.” It shares how much you have changed and what you want others to be aware of.

  81. Rada on February 20, 2026 at 1:04 PM

Great poem TT. Your words show the transformation of soul on earth. Very well written. Keep writing. I enjoyed reading your poem.

  82. Noelle Lucia on February 21, 2026 at 6:33 PM

There is a shifting figure emerging from these words. A face is created from images of introspection. By insisting the reader to “discard ever tale you’ve hear”, you create a blank slate from an already unknown identity. This, in a sense, begs the reader to insert themselves into the lines.
I think that everyone longs to be written more so than painted. Accurate sentences about us are intimate when they reflect the unseen. Associating text options with passion and pain humanizes the way we write. “eternal change” from italics brings spirituality to poems, an elevation of what is perceived as a simple emphasis.
Everyone wants to be witnessed, it is why humans cannot be solitary. A portrait painted in words immortalizes that knowing. To be remembered a million ways says to me an understanding of the impossibility of that task. For how can someone be captured entirely in prose. The soul shifts faster than any art. Or does it freeze in time for the sake of one moment – one line.

  83. Sidney on February 28, 2026 at 8:32 AM

This poem is stunning, it reads like a declaration of identity painted in language instead of brushstrokes. There’s something so powerful about asking to be remembered not by what others assume, but by the emotions, colors, and movement that make you you. The way it weaves together boldness, pain, and transformation feels like a celebration of becoming, not just one version of yourself, but many.
