It’s Time

By JW

It’s time for me to go home
It’s time for me to pray
It’s time for me to think
It’s time for me to say

It’s time for me to believe
It’s time for me to rest
It’s time for me to have peace
It’s time for me to bless

It’s time for me to thank God
It’s time for me to praise
It’s time for me to have joy
It’s time for me to raise

It’s time for me to be new
It’s time for me to be
It’s time for me to feel
It’s time for me to see

It’s time for me to be real
It’s time for me to be me
It’s time for me to be liberated
It’s time for me to be free

    JW,

I personally really like the use of repetition in poetry, so I enjoyed the use of “It’s time for me…”
The last stanza was my favorite: “It’s time for me to be real
It’s time for me to be me
It’s time for me to be liberated
It’s time for me to be free”

Liberated/liberation is one of my guiding life principles, so I am glad to know you understand how essential it can be.

Oh, I also like your use of rhyme. It gave the poem a nice cadence without distracting from the overall message.

I hope with time, you find all of the things you named.

Thank you for sharing. Please keep writing!

This poem spoke through me due to its simplicity, yet deep connection and critical thinking that it causes. While reading each line I was left reflecting on different aspects of my life, including my regrets, goals, and moments of extreme happiness and sadness. This is a real stretch into ones own identity, and who they truly believe they are, or who they want to be, whether pretty or ugly. I thank you for bringing me closer to myself, and closer to God through this poem.

  37. Maryann Valeyron on October 28, 2025 at 4:02 PM

I enjoyed reading this cause honestly, I have been feeling down lately when it comes to my schooling and how I’m going on about myself especially when it comes to God like spending time with him and reading his word. lately he’s been speaking to me, and this is a part of my class assignment which has been a huge and clear sign of God in my life because of how it’s going compared to previous years, I’m able to clearly see his hand on my life ad through school through the people and the miracle themselves. It’s given me a sense peace and definitely a huge conformation that even God is in my studies.

I enjoyed how you connected spiritual reflection, personal growth, and freedom to demonstrate how liberation is not just physical, it is also emotional and spiritual. The structure gives the poem a forward movement and by the end when you arrive at “its time for me to be free” its earned because you have taken the reader through each step. This piece is hopeful and honest and speaks to the process of becoming whole again.

We all have the power within us to reshape ourselves through positive thoughts and actions – it can change how we see ourselves and gives us a sense of personal freedom. Your poem shows the many ways that we can do this. Keep writing!

Hello! I really enjoyed reading your poem. I thought the usage of repetition, anaphora, was especially moving. To me, I felt such a sense of overload of all these feelings of renewal and hope. I also appreciated the rhyme scheme as it helped me to better understand and interpret the different clauses as distinct ideas. Keep going and writing!

The progression from prayer and reflection to freedom and being “real” feels meaningful and earned. It comes across as hopeful and grounding, like choosing peace and self-acceptance after a long journey. I really connect with the mention of religion being a very religious person myself.

I like how this poem feels calm but powerful at the same time. The repetition of “It’s time” makes it sound confident, like the speaker has finally reached a turning point and is ready for something better. It feels really personal, especially when it shifts from praying and thanking God to lines like “It’s time for me to be real” and “It’s time for me to be free.” That part stood out to me because it feels like more than just physical freedom — it sounds like emotional or spiritual freedom too. Overall, the poem feels hopeful and strong, like someone deciding they’re ready to move forward and become a new version of themselves.

This poem brings faith to those reading remembering that there is no better time than now. In the world we often get caught up in the past or future but we are not in either place: we are in the present. Hello JW,
I really enjoyed reading this poem it showed me that you are ready to grow as a person and things you want to start no matter the time frame just know when you’re ready it’ll always be there for you. This encouraged me a lot and gave me that push of motivation that i needed thank you.

  74. Michael on March 11, 2026 at 5:09 PM

Out of the poems that I skimmed through this one caught my attention, due to the repeating line “It’s time for me to” as it draws a lot of attention to itself, which is something a poem should do. I also like how it rhymes, helps it flow better, and makes it more interesting to read. Lastly, I like the message of the poem, not too in your face, but still easy to understand.

  75. Khyra on March 15, 2026 at 12:01 PM

    Dear JW,
This is spiritual, emotional, and deeply felt. The form of the poem matches the feeling perfectly. It wants to be read aloud, and that’s your sign alone that it is powerful. The last lines “It’s time for me to be liberated
It’s time for me to be free” land because the whole poem has been building up to it. By the time you get there, the repetition has done its work — I felt the weight of what’s being released. It doesn’t feel clichéd because it has been earned line by line. I loved reading this journey and your truth. Keep writing!

  76. Rebecca on March 18, 2026 at 7:27 PM

I loved your poem! The juxtaposition of style (the word choice and simple, repeated sentence structure) with the message (very deep and resonant) makes for a striking and memorable piece of poetry. I hope you keep writing!

  77. Lida on March 22, 2026 at 8:10 PM

This poem has a strong sense of rhythm and purpose, and the repetition of “It’s time for me…” gives it a powerful, almost meditative flow that feels like a personal affirmation or prayer. The progression from reflection and faith to renewal and freedom is clear and meaningful, creating a sense of emotional and spiritual growth that builds nicely toward the final lines. Phrases like “to be liberated” and “to be free” give the ending a satisfying and uplifting sense of release. To make it even stronger, you might vary the phrasing slightly in a few places to avoid too much repetition and sharpen the impact of each line, and consider refining lines like “It’s time for me to say” or “It’s time for me to raise” by making them more specific or vivid. Overall, it’s a heartfelt and empowering piece that reads like a declaration of renewal and self-discovery.

  78. Colin on March 23, 2026 at 5:24 PM

This poem is deep. I especially liked how you ended it with feeling free, kind of like it was a journey to reach that point. I also adore how the poem still manages to flow despite how similar the start is. Good job making it to flow that way, I know writing poetry can be rough sometimes, especially when trying to keep it structured!

  79. Cheri on March 23, 2026 at 5:28 PM

I like the simplistic format of the poem. I think the way it’s used is effective and conveys a message. I also really enjoyed the switch from “It’s time for me to” to “It’s time for me to be” in the last quarter of the poem. The change is subtle but speaks to the intentionality of the poem.

  80. Holly Jackson on March 30, 2026 at 3:18 PM

Now that you know it is time to do all of these things, maybe end your poem with what you are going to do now that you are armed with all of this power.

Hi! This poem really spoke out to me. I am a person of faith so when I read this, I envision a soul yearning for peace, change, and spirituality. It’s really deep I wonder when it’s time will turn into the now. The other thing I would like to mention is utilizing periods.

I really enjoy the usage of repetition in “it’s time”. I think many people, myself included, live in their heads in the past or the future when really the moment is now. We are all trying to figure out the right and wrong ways to exist and what to do with our time. the time is right now. What a beautiful poem.

    Dear JW:
Your use of anaphora is unique and incredibly impactful. Through it, you reveal an innately human process of reflection that is deeply moving. In a way, it forces the reader to reflect themselves, and turn each line into a manifestation: a mantra. It is beautiful in it’s simplicity, thank you for sharing.

Hi JW! I wanted to say that your use of repetition is done very well. Despite the pattern being similar, you convey new and unique thoughts with each line. I get the sense that there was once something that weighed on you heavily, but you’re ready to grow past that. What once bound you no longer has a grip on you. You can think. Say. Feel. See. And above all, as you say in the last line, you are free. Keep up the great writing JW. I believe in you.

I really love the rhythm of this and how it builds up to those last few lines about being liberated. It feels almost like a checklist for a fresh start or just finding your own peace. That transition from needing to think to finally being free is such a powerful shift.

There is something so grounding about the repetition used here. It feels like a personal mantra or a prayer. For me, it’s a great reminder that sometimes we just need to permit ourselves to be real.

Hi JW. This poem is very powerful. The simple repetition drives home the hopes, desires, and aspirations that you show in this work. The way you move into peace, faith, and being fully yourself is very honest and hopeful. Thank you for sharing this work.

I don’t know if this was intended, but this poem’s use of the phrase ‘It’s time for me to ___’ really created a sense of like running out of time or like rushing in the poem. I think it makes the poem more interesting and makes me think more about each line.

This is an incredible poem with a powerful message. The use of repetition throughout cements the idea that the speakers time for freedom is coming, and alongside this freedom is an array of new lessons and goals. The poem is inspiring and motivating, it holds a universal message that many can relate to. Incredible work!

The use of anaphora gives this poem a really strong, prayer-like rhythm. I really liked the progression towards the end, where it shifts from actions like “pray” and “think” to states of being like “liberated” and “free.” Very inspiring!

JW, I love your use of anaphora in this poem. It really emphasizes the core messages of freedom and belief in a powerful way. I am glad that you are able to explore these messages through your writing, and I encourage you to continue! Thanks for this beautiful poem.

The use of anaphora repetition (the repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of each line, in this case “It’s time for me”) really adds to the message. Thank you for your honesty.

Great poem!! The repetition builds in a way that feels intentional and earned. By the end, ‘it’s time to be free’ lands with real weight because you felt every step it took to get there.

Hi JW! The simplicity of your words makes the message even more meaningful. It feels honest, pure, and inspiring.
