Another Way

By DA

I see you, Hate
You look mad
You come out of angry people
You make their jaws clench
You stomp around and you’re strong
I don’t want you around
You are always gonna be here though
When you find your way into my heart
I act
I don’t feel good about it
I don’t want to feel you
I want another way

    DA,
This is a really great poem. I have come across this poem as part of a college course aimed at community engagement.
I think you describe the power of hate magnificently. This feeling can be such a powerful one that it makes humans do bad things. I think your poem beautiful describes that inner struggle between this emotions ability to consume you and ones desire to do the right thing. It’s a fight we all face, on a daily basis, in small ways and in big ways. Ones ability to drown out the hate and listen to the good in their heart is such a great attribute and that’s what I get from your poem. Great work! Thank you so much for sharing this with the world!
