Prevail

By TT

This persistent search for reciprocity…
I long for the opportunity to counter this plight
Respite is near if consistency resides
My prosperity relies upon this aspiration

To be moved to improve thyself…
One must first discover thou wealth
Demeaning are these circumstances
But destructive it shall be to lose dignity

I continue to search high and low…
Gradually piecing together my resilience
Illuminate my struggle – I want us all to witness
Courage comes unto me by what you see
Ponder my reactions in the face of adversity…
Realize I am serious about who I strive to be

My resolve will not diminish, for I am far from finished
These beliefs I clutch dear to my heart…
I will redeem myself
Time will tell what I’m about

Quicksand sinks through this hourglass…
Slowly releasing me
I shall reciprocate against this predicament
Watch for my resurgence…

Dear TT, I am amazed by the beauty of your poem. I can feel the determination and strength radiating from your words. I know that you say what you mean and mean what you say. There is a sense of maturity and perspective woven into your verses that speaks to your difficult situation in a way that shows that you know that you’re meant for more. Keep writing and expressing yourself. You have so much talent and so much potential. Best wishes, Roxanne

This poem you wrote has such a deep meaning and I can tell what you are going through. I has been in the same position as you as well. Being positive in life is the most important thing you can do no matter where you are in life. Never forget who you are and who you want to be. Stay positive!

Last year I was going through a lot and it put me in a rut for months at a time. Eventually I grew tired of how I was feeling and decided to pick myself up and do what I had planned to do for most my life, which is to go to college. I wanted to be the one to go to college and finish it in my family. I want more for my life and to do that I have to keep going and not stop at every wall that shows itself in my path. I will become the person I am wanting to be and I will rise to overcome the roadblocks. Your poem makes me think of the phoenix. Especially the ending as it rises to a new self for a new beginning .

This poem is so strong in so many ways. The language you use is so eloquent and makes your writing so powerful. The last two paragraphs are phenomenal and really tie everything together. The last line specifically gave me chills when I read it. Keep holding onto this mindset and, most importantly, keep writing.

Great poem about strength and resilience. I think that it is great that the author talks about the struggle to be more, to be better, and to overcome the adversities and difficulties that one inevitably encounters in life. This is a great and simple poem, and it is easy to see his strength and fire coming through it.

Loved it, TT. We often find out who we truly are in our most challenging moments. It’s not the past that makes us who we are, but what we choose to do in such moments that defines who we can become. Stay strong and keep your eyes on that goal and keep up the writing.

The message behind this poem is something that I can see resonating with many different people for many different reasons. Maintaining resilience in the face of adversity is no easy task, but it is one the truest tests of one’s mettle and something the we will all eventually have to face. This was stark reminder for me to keep forging ahead in spite of my doubts; thank you for this!

I really like the message behind this poem about how you are still prevailing through all of the obstacles that you have faced. It is a great reminder of strength and resilience. Some of the lines in the poem really stood out to me and really showed how much effort you are putting into bettering yourself. Keep up the great mindset!

This is such a great poem about self-development! You point out how hard it is to start the journey towards developing yourself. Nicely done!

I really liked how this poem created a sense of change and hope. One of the biggest things we such for in life is a sense of meaning and identity. Here in your poem you truly tell a story of how you are going to keep searching for who you are as a person even through the highs and the lows that life might bring. We can do and overcome anything we put our mind to and that is really shown in the wording of your poem. Great job!

    Hey TT,

I am delighted to have ran into your poem. I genuinely caught it being intriguing due to how your emotions and thoughts were portrayed throughout the poem. It was very inspiring to hear the ambitions you have in wanting to overcome the adversities that you have in your life. Which is when you considered how you might face more adversity in the future, but are aware that you must remain resilient as you are working towards your aspirations of improving yourself. I relate to what you have written as you are seeking redemption and self-empowerment. To a less significant extent, I have also faced difficult adversities throughout my lifetime so far and am on the journey to improving myself everyday just a little more. Similarly to you, when you mentioned, “Respite is near if consistency resides My prosperity relies upon this aspiration”, I am seeking to become consistent with what I do to then be able to prosper in various aspects of life. I also enjoyed the metaphors you incorporated in the last stanza of the poem, saying how “Quicksand sinks through this hourglass…Slowly releasing me I shall reciprocate against this predicament Watch for my resurgence”. Your saying how your time is slowly ticking away and are affirming that you will retaliate to this occasion, very soon. I also wanted to compliment the selective pieces of language that you incorporated within your poem very competently. Such as using thyself, plight, resurgence, reciprocity, etc. I had to search some of these words up! Lol. I feel as if I can relate to a lot of what you had to say in your poem because of the current stage that I’m at in life. I need to follow through with my ambitions if I want to progress with something that I want to be proud of in the near future. I hope your self-discipline continues to grow and are able to reach some of the many ambitions you might have. Continue to believe in yourself. And remember, The World is Yours.

    Best,

    David T
