I Am Thankful For
By K.
I am thankful for music
As this is the calming I need each day
I am thankful for literature
As it provides a temporary escape from reality
I am thankful for my health
As I am better able to help those around me
I am thankful for my friends
As they help me keep life in perspective
I am thankful for my education and wisdom
As I am better prepared for life’s daily struggles
I am thankful for my godmother
As she has shown me true unconditional love
Most of all I am thankful for God Almighty
As He has given me the capacity to forgive and love
What are you thankful for?

Dear K.,
This poem is very empowering. I like how you challenge the reader to reflect on themselves at the end.
Hi K.,
Thank you so much for sharing! I love how this focuses on gratitude, which lifts my spirits whenever I am down.
I really enjoyed the part about being thankful most of all for God, for the capacity to forgive and to love. Often times, when I express my gratitude to God, I often think of the material things he has blessed me with and the people in my life. But God has demonstrated love to us, something that we can emulate. Keep writing and keep being grateful! 🙂

I sometimes forget to be thankful for small things in life and this is a nice reminder think about things in life that are often taken for granted (like good health). I also like how you asked the question in to allow the reader the think about their own experiences. This poem is short and sweet with a powerful message. I am thankful for my family, my education, my faith, and my good health. Thank you me making me think about these things. I hope to read more of your work.
Dear K,
This poem is so inspirational! It shows the little things we can be grateful for everyday and fill up our hearts with everyday. I love that you see life with so much passion! My favorite lines were “I am thankful for literature/ As it provides a temporary escape from reality.” I am a huge reader so I really related to this. I find a lot of peace reading my books and am grateful everyday that I am able to take time out of my day to enjoy them. I love that at the end of the poem you ask the reader to reflect on their own lives and think about what they are thankful for. This is a fantastic poem! Thank you for sharing.
