The Eyes of a Tiger
By MC
Hate is a warm heart turned cold
Hate has the eyes of a tiger with a darkened soul
Hate is mom dukes snatched up at night
Hate is like a snake
Whose grip will perpetuate
Hate is a broken heart
That never got sewed

I really like this poem because it is short and simple. Reading the poem helps me to relate to a point in my life where I experienced strong hate against a person.
Hi there!
This poem moved me in many ways. As a college student who is majoring in psychology and will soon be entering the “real” world, I have no idea what’s to come or who I might help in the future. I have always been a person who has wanted to help people in any way I can, but especially those who have been hurt, or have felt broken in some way. As a therapist, or a psychologist, or whatever I become, this poem truly continues to reiterate the fact that you can’t judge a book by its cover, and you can never assume how someone came to think a certain way. It also reminds me that much of the feelings such as anger, sadness, hopelessness, disappointment, hate, etc., all come from a feeling of hurt. No one starts out with strong feelings of hatred or anger; those feelings are built up over very long periods of time. This poem was inspirational, and it also gives me hope that maybe just maybe, if I can help people, if I can listen, if I can make an impact, I can make the world a better place in some small way, that I can heal hearts that may have never been sewn, like you wrote. I hope that if this poem is based off of your own feelings, that you one day are able to heal, and that one day your heart is filled with warmth again. Keep going! You’ve got this!
