Hope
By SP
You’re attractive from afar,
Even with the distance of a star.
Mixed emotions when I think of you
Because I wonder where you are.
Anxiety and Depression,
Had me second guessin’,
But Big Homie told me,
“Time will answer questions”
With that New Perspective
I turnt my losses into lessons
and the resiliency in me
had me humble under pressure!
Shout out to Free Minds
Because they books help me cope.
The last one was inspiring
it cleansed my soul like some soap.
It was named after you,
and I thought that was dope
it was written by Obama…
The Audacity of “Hope”

Thank you for sharing! Like your friend said time will help in answering the questions. Shifting the readers outlook on life from why this or why that to being able to accept that things happen for worse or for better, Hope is a hard concept to put into words, but you did an amazing job.

The line you have written here, “Time will answer questions,” is extremely profound and I thank you for sharing. It is something I need to hear and will reflect on again. It is hard to not worry about what the future has in store or even what has happened in the past. Time will bring all things to light and answer those much-asked questions. I am glad you are finding inspiration through reading. There is much to soak in and learn from reading, much like I have learned from reading your poem. Keep shining and learning, SP!
Thank you for sharing, SP! Your poem has insightful imagery, and the rhyme scheme really pulls the reader in. Hope is a finicky thing that can easily be squashed out by mental health struggles and hardship, but I think as humans, it’s in our nature to pull through, hold onto hope, and pursue life despite all of the obstacles that can be set in a person’s path. I’m glad that you have found solace in the Free Minds program. Hold onto that.

The message that time heals everything is so true and so moving. Books and poetry are powerful outlets for creative expression. I find your resilience and way with words to be very moving.
This poem is amazing! It illustrates reminiscing on the past and the struggles that can encompass time passing. Memories can disfigure our actual perceptions, whether they be based on positivity or negativity though it will be hard to capture the whole picture as we once were able to.
