I Want To Be Loved
By CL
I want to be loved
Not no fake love
I want to be loved
Not for what I got
But for who I am
I want to be loved,
Honored, Cherished, and
Respected in a
Respectable way
I just want people to
Love me for who I am
I don’t want that I’m
Obligated love because
We are kin
I want genuine love
For who I am
Love to me is
Loyalty over everything

I love this poem, and it made me feel connected to it as I feel the same way. I believe that love is the most powerful emotion and thing we have in this world, and this poem spoke numbers. “I want to be loved, not for what I got but for who I am.”. This line really spoke to me, and it is something that speaks for anyone as we have nothing to show but ourselves. To be loved authentically and thoroughly, need not change anything about who we are, is the purest form of love we could ask for. This poem is powerful, and I’ve always thought the same for most of my life and to this day. As you said it, “love to me is loyalty over everything”, and no matter who we are we should always be able to have love in our lives. Thank you for writing this, and I hope you continue to pursue this passion of yours in poetry.

Great poem. I think everyone should be loved in some way no matter who you are or what you did. Keep writing you are not alone and you are loved.
I really liked this poem. I think that the way that you emphazise that you want to be loved for being you is a huge point. You shouldn’t have to fake who you are just to be loved by someone. I also like how this poem was short and to the point but also very powerful. My favorite line of this poem is the last line because love is ultamiely loyality, and I love how you bolded the letters to spell out love I thought that was really unique.
I love this poem! you capture the instinctual need for love that many people experience so well, and put your own creative spin on it. The use of repetition is very fitting in this case, as this poem is describing such a nagging and present feeling. The use of bold letters in the last line helps the readers end on a note of finality, and leaves them with the overarching theme of your poem. Overall, this is a well crafted and beautiful poem, that strikes a strong cord with the readers.

On the surface, the poem comes off as demanding, but it reads like a gentle plea for genuine connection, which is often lost at the surface-level romance that is easy to find.

This is such an inspiring poem. I completely agree with your idea that everyone should be loved as it is their right and allows them to feel good about themselves. Loving someone can instantly change their mood for the better and allow them to be a better person.
This is a beautiful poem. You convey what many people feel – I love the last line about loyalty. Love is certainly equivalent to loyalty. I hope you find the love you are looking for – never stop writing!
Wow I love this poem. It’s very relatable. A lot of people want love like this and you express it well
Love can mean something different to different people. It is lovely that you are able to put into words what it means to you and the repetition in the poem serves to emphasize your ideas.
Your poem is heartfelt and speaks so clearly about the importance of genuine love and respect. It’s a powerful reminder of what love truly should be. Thank you for sharing your truth.
This is a really vulnerable way to articulate a term so common like love. Implicitly, I sense a disparity between the true self, the conscious self, and the perceived self.
Thank you for sharing! Wanting true love is a concept that many readers can relate to. Just wanting to be loved for who you are by someone that is not family is so relatable. Love is part of life that people long for and use writing as a way to express this and you did an amazing job.
Dear CL,
Your poem “I Want to be Loved” was a phenomenal read! I enjoyed how you repeatedly used “I want” to show how badly you want to be loved. As a reader, your poem reminds me that certain things can be a want, not a need. Having that sense of connection that I was able to build from your poem helps to understand it more and more, making me feel relieved. Knowing I am not the only one in this world who doubts wanting to be loved, scared that special someone will not walk into my life, showing that loyalty and care I have always wanted. Your tone and vulnerability are heartfelt and calm. Creates a broader perspective of what is being told. The repetition of the phrases “I want to be loved” and “for who I am” conveys a strong desire for acceptance. At the end of your poem you also bolded “Loyalty over everything,” I thought that was cool, making me take a moment after reading the poem to reflect on that. As you are really telling your reader that loyalty is important in comparison to everything in life. Bolding the beginning of each word creates and image for readers to reflect on. This poem was wonderful, really creating that sense of connection for me once again. Relating to what you wrote and how this is also a desire for lots of people too. I hope to see more poems of yours and continue to connect and draw towards them.
