I Want To Be Loved

By CL

I want to be loved
Not no fake love

I want to be loved
Not for what I got
But for who I am

I want to be loved,
Honored, Cherished, and
Respected in a
Respectable way

I just want people to
Love me for who I am

I don’t want that I’m
Obligated love because
We are kin

I want genuine love
For who I am

Love to me is
Loyalty over everything

I agree people should be loved for who they are not what they have in life.

I really enjoyed reading this poem. More specifically, I loved your use of capitalization on the final line. I felt as if your use of capitalizing the letters “LOVE” emphasized to the reader the ways in which “Love” lies within loyalty. I think that is a super important idea, and you captured that perfectly.

I liked your poem, I Want to be Loved. Love is all that matters when you get to the bottom of everything. We all want to be loved for who we are, not what we do, not even what we say. To genuinely love something and be loved is the ultimate form of respect. I hope you get the love that you deserve.

Everyone deserves to be loved and I know that there is someone out there made to love you unconditionally.

    Hi there,

I like the honestly and straightforwardness of your poem. I also like that you repeat “for who I am”. I think this reinforces the idea that organic, authentic love is what’s sought for in the poem. I think this is a common desire you betrayed very well! For your last verse, I think you can add “virtually” before “everything” and bold the ‘v’ so it can spell out love.

    Hi CL,

Great job! This poem is touching. I can relate to wanting to be loved. I am sure that many other people feel this way too. Love is a feeling that is unmatched. In my opinion, unconditional love can make you feel like you have superpowers. I love how you defined what love is to you. Many people consider love to be unwavering loyalty. I agree that love is “Loyalty over everything.”
