Confined
By D.H.
I’m confined within a place
Where there’s no such thing as right
The days are always dark and gloomy
Like there’s no such thing as light
Respect does not exist
And violence is a must
Friends become your enemy
There is no one you can trust
Thieves, murderers
And some of the worst people to ever exist
I have witnessed beatings, stabbings
And other things that I’ll never forget
I’m confined within a place
Where silence is considered a threat
Manners do not exist
So you must watch where you step
The tension is always high
So it’s important to stay on guard
The only way to pass time
Is by playing basketball or cards
Getting on the phone can be very dangerous
Especially if you are next
Being distracted in such a hostile environment
Will be something you regret
I’m confined within a place
Where all hope is lost
Depression becomes inevitable
And my tears continuously fall
Is this place really hell?
It’s kind of hard to decide
This is something I must endure
As long as I’m confined

I really like how you keep a good rhythm and rhyme to this poem. You use a lot of slant rhyme where it doesn’t quite rhyme perfectly but really pops out to the ear if read aloud. Your writing is very somber, yet also beautiful. Keep up the righting! Your work is very good and has nothing to but improve even further.
this is really a powerful poem and i think every judge, congress, an just the whole justice system should read this and actually go through the things that a young man charged as an adult goes through. but we some tough individuals so and me personally, it made me who i am as a man. powerful expressions
Your intellect shines. Your poem drew a picture of what it must be like to be incarcerated. Stay strong! You are reaching out to others with your writing, and you touched me with your words. Keep writing, I would love to see more of your poems!
This poem is mighty and I can feel the struggle that occurred. Confinement is a strong word and often comes with a struggle and or story. Everything happens for a reason and therefore to be in confinement something must have gone wrong. It’s a different environment where people treat each other differently and there are “rules” within. You got this and remember the best is yet to come!
