Love’s Reply

By MS aka NexXLife

Dear NexXLife,

I thought I gave you to someone who
would love you
I’m not all knowing
so I never knew
that your mother’s love
if that’s
what it was
would tarnish your innocence and corrupt you
reshape your world view
break your spirit and harden your heart
she battered your form and imprisoned your mind
that’s not what love is
not what love does
now because of this
all of those years of silent tears
huddled within yourself like a refugee
your fear was your impenetrable guard
so it was hard for anyone to get close to love you
protecting yourself you pushed people away
ashamed of your past
you were too scared to let someone love you
I hear you
I am never far from you
all you have to do is lower your guard
take a chance on me
light a beacon
and love (I) will surely find you

Yours truly,
Sincerely,
Love

Beautiful and insightful. With that voice, love will be heard.

    Dear MS,
This was very beautiful and moving. I am so sorry you were put in a position where someone that was supposed to love you unconditionally, didn’t. I know how that feels. You are so strong and powerful. Please continue writing poems.
    Sending you lots of light,
    Arina

    Dear MS,

Beautiful poem. I also enjoy that you wrote the poem from love’s perspective. I’m glad that you didn’t let your past experiences break you and you’re right, love is always waiting to be let in. Great writing and I wish you all the best!

My first impression reading this made me think about how it feels to give a child up for adoption and find out that it wasn’t the right choice. As I reread the caption it made complete sense. Love will leave you distorted if it is by someone who was not meant for you. Love comes in all shapes and forms. It doesn’t mean every love is right or meant for you. It can leave you badly bruised and scarred. May life bring us true love that is patient and kind, that does not count wrongs or boost, for may it be pure and unconditional.

    MS,

Thank you for being so vulnerable. Your pain resonates with so many readers. Being hurt is hard; especially when we love and trust the person who is hurting us. Despite what you have been through, you are strong and worthy of love.

    Keep writing!
