Dear You

By KW

Don’t leave me like this!
Let’s talk about it.
What did I do wrong?
Can it be fixed?
I do whatever I have to do to correct it!
Just don’t go!
Please don’t leave me behind.
I can’t go on without you.
I am nothing without you.
Please don’t cut me off!
I can be better!
What do you need me to do to prove it to you?
I’ll do anything to be with you.
Anything you name it.
I love you like nobody loves you.
We are made for each other.
Without you I’m lost
Let’s work it out, okay?

Yours truly,
Self-Respect

Whoa. I literally said “Whoa.” out loud when I read the signature line of the poem. Then I read the whole piece again, knowing whose POV it was from, and felt the power behind the piece. This poem has a depth of longing in the plea for reconciliation that most of us have felt at one time or another in our life… a plea for that person we love to stay present with us in the relationship.

    Nice work. Very nice work.

This is so powerful! It really expresses the emotions of the author. In one word, this poem is PERFECTION. It has all the realism that, at some point in life, we experience. Again, PERFECTION.

  3. I LOVE THIS!!! Great job, i really connected with this personally. Amazing job!

Really great use of the twist at the end, it changes the whole poem and forces you to go back and read it again and again to let it sink in in its fullness.

  5. Very cool twist at the end. Unexpected and hits hard. Very good work.
