That was really nice.
When I read this, I immediately started to imagine how the writer must have felt when writing it. That’s a powerful ability.
I would like to see this poem be bigger, to stretch out these wants with connections, with explanations of how its hard to achieve those wants.
This kind of repetition gives the poem a nice rhythm. I was struck by the final line, which is like the final chord ringing at the end of a song.
This poem gives off a very positive but negative tone at the same time. It is very good that you want to learn how to improve yourself in many ways, but the ways that you need to improve are very harsh. For example “I want to learn how to stop reaching for a gun when an unknown car passes.” It is great that you have the mindset of learning to become a better person, but the mindset that you currently have is very dangerous. I believe in you, you got this!
Those are some powerful goals. It’s great that you want to make positive changes in your life. Learning to stay out of trouble and focusing on school can really set you on a better path. And finding a way to deal with fear and hate with love is so admirable. Keep striving for that growth!
