To Those

By AC

To those who find peace in times of war;
Who find love within their hearts
even in times when it may feel
like there is nothing more than hatred in this world;
Who find wisdom among blinding confusion;
Who find the True Value of this life
before finding the value of a coin;

To those who smile when they should be crying;
Who look up when they are down;
Who find gain when everything’s been lost;
For those who feel the joy bubbling inside
and forget about the pain that haunts us every night;

For you, don’t you ever even try to give up,
keep moving forward and never look back,
because when the true heroes of humanity are counted,
you my friend, you are one.

About this poem: There is good in all of us. Some of us just have to dig a little deeper for it. But everyone is capable of being and doing good, no capes or tight pants needed.

Forgotten Wings

By MS

Forgotten wings
Disused & abandoned
Tricked self into believing that you (we) couldn’t fly
World weary… head heavy
Barely sleeping
Fitfully resting my eyes
Dazed

Does this pass for dreaming
I can feel the wind on my face
Eyes – wide open
I can see these wings carrying me to the other side…

At second glance, I realize that I am dreaming
It wasn’t me soaring
Dis-used & abandoned
Seeking the courage to spread my wings
And fly on forgotten wings

Today I lost and discovered you at the same time
Your patriotic stance and sacrifice was unique and one of a kind.
You lived and died for what you believed in
A righteous state of mind.
For equality and justice for all mankind.
A right that each and every one of us should be ready to fight for at the drop of a dime.

In loving memory of Heather Heyer,
A gift from heaven, you are truly divine.

Wide Awake

By VM

From a child to a teenager

From a teenager into an intelligent, strong young gentleman.

Who cares about a lot that strive for everything,

Who don’t like the easy way.

Who push himself until it’s all over.

Who walks by himself and don’t fear nothing

he sees not even a lion or a tiger could tear this heart apart too strong for his own good.

Was blinded to this life before, but now I’m too wide awake to sleep.

Those snakes strike like cobras you better find out,

before your time out, gotta stay awake.

I can sleep when I die; I’m wide awake to miss too much.
