Reentry

What can I say about reentry,
It’s like coming out the womb 4 the second time
it’s a new beginning
don’t really know where 2 start
cause it’s never easy
life is always hard
When it come 2 finding jobs or just getting your life together
I learned u got 2 put some people and things behind u 2 move forward
n order 2 advance u got 2 give yourself a chance
These streets a beast
It’s like a chess game
u the king that control your army
So u always make your next move your best move
got 2 pay attention and never snooze
cause n this game u will lose
2 a world that is cruel
so it all about how u move
Got 2 stay on you’re A game at all times
watch the company u keep
cause it will put u back n a place where u don’t want 2 b
so what can I say bout reentry
it’s about change

I really like all you have said in this writing. Yes, you will have to leave some people and things behind to be the best you can be. But it will be worth it. Stay strong, you can do it!

I like the way you begin with rebirth then move on to the difficulty in not making the same choices. Your chess reference is clever – nice! I saw the king and army as you and Your thoughts. Keep up the good work.

I’d like to share this poem with the Colorado Dept. of Corrections re-entry program. Is that something you would allow? It’s remarkable- so honest, but positive, in a brutal way…
