Poem: Where does Love Go?

Where Does Love Go?

Where does love go when true love dies?

It goes back to your heart

And comes out to your eyes

My dear daughter this is true

I see your face in every star

In every rainbow

Near and Far

My heart will not accept that you have gone

Your precious love so warm and true

I hope this life

Tears will weather and pray someday

We can be together

Hi. My name is Serena and i’m a 16 year old sophomore studying Juvenile Justice. I really enjoy your poem. It hit home for me in a way because of how you wrote about your daughter. Its touching how you keep her spirit alive in yours. So I say to you my good sir, keep your hope and faith alive. She will always be right by your side, even if you can’t see her. She lives on in your heart.

Thank you for your vulnerability! I can feel your love for your daughter through your words and the imagery they create. Loving a child can be the most pure, eternal love we get the blessing of experience. I hope you continue to foster this love. Keep writing!

This is really touching , especially since I can relate. I haven’t lost a child, but when I was 14 (I am now 18) I lost my dad who was my best friend. He saved me from the demons around me, but once he passed I was left to fight off the demons by myself. It’s extremely overwhelming at first, but over the years I’ve gotten more used to fighting my own battles but I know he’s always in my corner. Your daughter will always be a twinkle in the sky along with many others who shine just as bright. This was very powerful please keep writing

This poem is beautiful and I appreciate you sharing your story. Family is so important and losing a loved one is so hard that we look for way to still connect like signs like you mentioned the stars and rainbows. Everyone copes with loss differently and I encourage you to keep on writing because your poems are so powerful and you may help someone who may be going through the same things. Awesome poem!!

Dear author, this poem that you’ve written was very touching, and inspiring as well. I want to say how sorry I am for the loss of your daughter. No parent should ever have to experience a loss like this, and the grief that follows with it. It’s a horrible thing to go through, and I’m sorry that you had to be one of the ones who did. But the love and care that you still display your child is just heart wrenching. The way you explain how unique, and special your bond is with her, and how you see in every star, and rainbow is just so beautiful. I know if she was reading this poem, she would be grinning ear to ear with love, and happiness. She is so lucky to have a parent like you. This is a very hard time for you, and I hope you can get all the rest and support you need. Thank you for sharing this with us, this really was a beautiful piece of work.
I wish you the best! – aaliyah

These words are a beautiful representation of grief and loss. Of the type of pain that only grief and loss can result in. While this is an incredibly difficult thing to combat, your words shine light on your loss. I am so grateful to have heard your inspiring words. Thank you so much for sharing.

I love the feeling that I got form this poem. To me it sounds like you want to be with your daughter again and you miss her. I love the first couple of lines saying where your love goes after it’s in your heart it goes to your eyes and comes out through your eyes.

This poem is beautifully written and very touching. You describe the stage of life after grieving, in which you never really get over a loss. You see them in everything beautiful and think about them often. All you want is to be with them again. These words are beautiful and emotionally relatable. I am very sorry for your loss and I hope the days become lighter and brighter for you.
