My Current Thoughts
By DA
My current thoughts are of the world,
The people that live in it, the man, woman, boy, and girl.
The reason we suffer as well as the cure,
The stained, the distorted, the clear, the pure.
I think about life and all it entails,
The walked on paths, the covered up trails.
I contemplate the future, the present, and the past,
My very first thought as well as my last.
But what are thoughts I want to know,
And does reflection of them really help us grow?
Does my current and past thoughts make me me?
And will my wrong ideals one day get me on a T?
My current cogitations I freely give to you all,
I hope they lift you up if you happen to fall.
I hope they make you feel better if you’re feeling sad,
I hope they make you happy if you’re feeling mad.
These are my current thoughts, from me to you,
No lying, no cappin’, but 100 percent true.
I may be in prison but I never felt so free,
And this is why my current thoughts mean so much to me.
My Current Thoughts.
Thank you Free Minds for giving me a place to share my thoughts.

Love that you took me on your thought travels, which included questions. Also liked the line that you “never felt so free.” I connected with that, since the mind can take us anyplace.
DA I love this poem. And it exactly hits upon the power of how your writing helps others and the freedom of your mind. To me, it speaks to how the external world and circumstances has a lot going on within it that our minds could grasp, but also that our minds are not prisoners of this world. And poetry, especially poetry as good as this, could be the vehicle to that mental and spiritual freedom.
I really hope you keep writing because I can’t wait to read more of your work!
The poem is really meaningful, the clarity you have on yourself throughout your self reflection is very inspiring. It was a great poem and I hope you write many more
This poem searches for meaning in life. One can find freedom by reflecting on their experiences throughout life. True freedom comes from the mind and by exploring one’s thoughts.

This poem talks very in depth about self-reflection and I think that is a very important topic to look upon. Everyone at one point in their life will have a moment of pause to think back on what they did and where they see themselves going and I think this poem explains this topic very nicely!
Such a heart warming piece, I love the truth and the riveting story it beholds beneath the words. This poem makes me wonder about my own current thoughts and past action, which every poem should do. This poem shows gratitude in simply having a mind and now a voice. Job well done.
This is a really nice poem that is centered on your experiences and thoughts. But I do think that reflections of ones previous thoughts and actions whether good or bad and changing them and learning our lessons from them helps us grow as a person and human being. Hope your having a great day full of thoughts!
The essence of life and our diverse experiences are eloquently captured in this poem. Every word has a genuine resonance that encourages introspection and connection while serving as a reminder of the richness inherent in our travels. incredibly motivating!
This poem offers a reflective and introspective look into the speaker’s thoughts on life, suffering, and personal growth. The straightforward yet thoughtful tone invites the reader into the speaker’s inner world, where questions about the nature of thoughts and their impact on self-identity are explored. The contrast between the “stained, the distorted, the clear, the pure” illustrates the complexities of life, acknowledging both the struggles and moments of clarity.
I love this poem because it really speaks to me. It gives me clarity on the fact that freedom and happiness is found within yourself, and to stop listening to what others have to say all the time. It is a really good outlook on life to maintain.

Your poem shares your deep thoughts about life and how we all go through struggles. Even though you’re going through hard times, you’ve found a way to feel free by understanding your own mind. You wonder if our thoughts shape who we are and if reflecting on them helps us grow. You want your thoughts to help others feel better, whether they’re sad, mad, or struggling. It’s a reminder that no matter where we are, we can still find peace and freedom in our own minds. Thanks for sharing such honest and real feelings.
Your poem is such a heartfelt and inspiring piece. I’m especially moved by how you find freedom and strength in your reflections, even in difficult circumstances—it’s inspiring and uplifting. Thank you for sharing something so raw!
I love the way you encapsulated your freedom in this poem. Your repetition of the phrase “I hope” also really drove the message of hope and freedom, which is so powerful. I also love how you gave the image of “covered up trails” and “walked on paths” to represent the past. “the reason we suffer as well as the cure” was also such a meaningful and beautiful contrast because that is so representative of the world and is so touching. Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and introspective poem!
Great work! Your poem is very good! I liked how the end tied into the title and how you used lots of opposites. Overall great work and keep it up!
I do believe that reflection can help with growth. I often reflect on my decisions and what steps I need to take to become a better version of myself. Reflection can offer a better understanding of ourselves. The ability to know ourselves and grow to love ourselves can create new ambition and grow our self-worth. I enjoyed your poem and how you reflected on reflection. This is a very philosophical frame of thinking. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
Hi, DA! Thank you for sharing this lovely poem. The world is big and complicated, but we will always have ourselves and our thoughts. Our thoughts are the only things that can truly be our own. No one can tell you how to think or feel. Our thoughts are where we learn and grow. Our thoughts are where we can find true freedom.
This poem has a great rhythm, flowing smoothly, and making the emotions and insights even more impactful! It offers a raw and honest reflection on life, identity, and personal growth. I especially like the lines, “But what are thoughts I want to know,
And does reflection of them really help us grow?”
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this poem!
You described the feeling of wondering about the past, and if it provides any real growth or change. This is a feeling that I too often resonate with; thank you for sharing this. I believe changing our perspective on the past will ignite our growth. I think your current thoughts are helping many people and I hope you continue writing. This is a beautiful piece.
This poem itself is a reflection on life, the world, and personal growth. The speaker’s mind is full of thoughts of regret, happiness, and anger, creating the picture that their mind is harmful to them as it creates a sense of anxiety. One aspect I liked is that the speaker was honest about how they lived their lives; they didn’t sugarcoat mistakes; rather, they viewed them as lessons they learned from, which is important to becoming the best version of ourselves.
Very nice poem. I feel like this idea is ever changing.
Very interesting idea for a poem. This is very well written, another cool thought about this is I feel like this idea is ever-changing throughout your life as you grow, learn, and experience life.
