Just Think of Me as A… Change!!
Lil Boy 2 Man in Making
Just think of me as a king
But not God
Just think of me as being an excellent person
And not a perfect human
Just think of me as a warrior
And not just a Fighter
Just think of me as being a young man learning from my mistakes
And not a young dumb*** criminal
Just think of me as a Female Lover
And not just a roller wit B****s
Just think of me as Father
And NOT just some young sperm donor
Just think of me as the BEST OF ME
And not just ME!!

I think we all feel this way. Often the way we think others think of us, though, is the way we think of ourselves. I truly believe that if you carry yourself with confidence, not arrogance; pride, not shame; and faith, not fear, people will see you in a different way. But you have to see yourself in a different way first. And it has to be genuine and come from your heart. When you give love—to yourself, your work, your environment, your people—love gives back. LOVE gives back.
I love the word pattern in this poem. I think we all feel that way, hoping people think the best of us even though we make mistakes…maybe they just won’t notice, but you say this beautifully… thanks
The way you take a descriptive phrase and “turn it on it’s head” really makes you think, when you read this poem. It is about being able to see the best in yourself…and the best in those around you. Look forward to reading more of your work!
It seems by your words, YOU have realized you are so much more than “just a”. Always be your best YOU. Good luck!
Your moving poem reminds me of, and seems to have a spiritual connection with, another moving poem, by another poet, Juan Ramon Jiminez (translated by Robert Bly)::
I Am Not I
I am not I,
I am this one
walking beside me whom I do not see,
whom at times I manage to visit,
and whom at other times I forget;
who remains calm and silent when I talk,
and forgives, gently, when I hate,
who walks where I am not,
who will remain standing when I die.
Thank you for yours, and for reminding me of this other one,
I like this peom and my favorite line was “just think of me as being a young man learning from my mistakes “
this is such a good poem i can see that you have changed from your mistake to where you are now
i really like how yuh carry yurself as a young man an not juss a young dummy out on the street
Well Said, Keep Up The Good Work,!
