Strong and Fearless

By RA

We are faced with new times. Our homes have become workplaces and schools. I know some days it may get the best of you but try to understand and believe you can overcome anything you’re faced with because you are strong and fearless women.

You’re the strongest people we know. You have overcome so much in your lives that I know, and I believe you will become even stronger and make the Best of these New Times!

When it gets hard on you, just take a step back and say to yourself…I’m a strong and fearless woman, who will not let these new times get the best of me 😊

You are fearless, strong and you have this.

Silence

By SM

A moment of silence for the frontline workers risking their lives and those we have lost to COVID-19

Silence!
Close your eyes, inhale the essence of fresh air
And picture yourself floating on a cloud that heals your heart –
Cleanses your soul

Silence!
Picture yourself dancing in the rain
Ecstatic of overcoming uncertainty

Silence!
Picture yourself in the wake of a thunderstorm –
Sun breaking, rainbow in the sky

Silence!
Feel yourself at the ocean’s shore
Listening to the screaming waves

Silence!
Feel yourself at the riverbank
Anticipating going for a swim

Silence!
Breathe for the ones we lost –
Let your heartbeat carry their legacies over the hills of the valley
Through strong winds and under the sky of their heavenly home

Silence!
Kisses to the mothers, hugs to the fathers –
Gone but never forgotten

Silence!
Exhale and breathe life back into the world

COVID-19

By GD

Never have I witnessed something so horrific
A pandemic! World crisis! Coronavirus!
It struck so suddenly, moved so rapidly
A catastrophe!

Death tolls are beyond anything imaginable
How did so many die before it was taken seriously?
Now we have “somewhat” prevention
Insistence on practicing social distance

But no vaccine, treatment, or cure
However, our Commander in Chief declared war?
In that case, this must be World War III
And still counting casualties

It has to be, something more we can do to calm us
Because this “pandemic” has caused pandemonium among us
Frantically panicking, our first preservation is self
So we are racing impatiently to clean out every shelf

Worried about bills, but don’t have a clean bill of health
And this virus is collecting on any past debts

Am I getting through yet?

Simple cause and effect, they neglect the cause of death
But focus more on the cost of the threat
Now we enter the realm of economics, politics at its best

But from a worldwide view, it just looks like a big mess
Now, how can we fix that?!
When the fear of going broke is greater than the fear of dying
When losing your job is greater than losing your life

In spite of the incompetence of our leaders
We will defeat this COVID-19
