Sofia Dean

Sofia Dean is the Community Engagement Coordinator at Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop, overseeing volunteers, coordinating community projects and partnerships, and supporting the Prison Book Club and On the Same Page program areas. Sofia graduated from American University in 2022 with a BA in Sociology and Political Science. During her undergraduate studies, she began as an intern with Free Minds in 2021 and returned in 2023 as a Program Assistant before her current role. Prior to returning to Free Minds, Sofia worked as a research assistant at her alma mater, researching the intersections of mass incarceration, health, and housing. She has also interned at D.C. non-profits focused on affordable and fair housing. Sofia enjoys reading, writing poetry, and spending time with loved ones in her free time.
