Prison Book Club Coordinator

Aneka joined Free Minds in 2011 and was one of the first young women in the program. While incarcerated at the DC Jail, she kept a composition notebook listing the books she read, often finishing one each day. She is a lover of memoirs, and her favorite is A Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown. Aneka is currently working towards a Bachelor’s of Science degree for Psychology, as well as a minor in Family and Human Development. As Prison Book Club Coordinator, Aneka ensures high quality services for members incarcerated in federal prisons across the country. She is motivated by her devotion to preventing teens from experiencing federal prison, and her aspiration is to one day start her own non-profit organization that provides art therapy for at-risk youth.
