I Made a Promise
By DS
I made a promise to my mother
That I was never going to get locked up again
When I came home in December of 2012
But I made a mistake
Because my mind wasn’t right
And I ended up back in jail facing 30 years
Now, I’m just hoping that she would forgive me
And still be there for me

This poem is very emotional and has a good story. A promise is something people try not to break but sometimes we lose others’ trust when we don’t do what we say we will do. You can hope that your mother will be waiting for you because giving people a second chance is hope. I bet you can understand why she might not be there for you but there will always be people that will help you. If you feel that you are not ready you should reach out to your leader because there are people that will help you, they just have to be found. You got this and remember the best is yet to come!
