Thank God
Life is hard
but I got to thank God
for letting me live
and all these years
and all the tears I’ve cried
I should be dead
but I’m alive
Thank You Allah

asalamu alakium. insha allah we live to see many more years. sometimes we live life so fast that we forget to take time out to worship our lord or acknowledge him that we fall off our deen and find our selves locked back up. why? because allah brings us back to the place where we remembers him the most. so if we were deening in prison and forgot about him in the streets, you’ll eventually find yourself back in because he wants u to thank him and repent to him because we wont do it in the streets. continue to keep allah 1st and always remember your lord and he’ll never forget u.
I am a student in a community service course at Wayne State in Detroit whose goal is to engage with the community beyond the university. When I discovered Free Minds I was immediately thrilled to see the connections build around your writings and heart, and what you have to offer is a powerful and beautiful gift to the community. It was a true privilege getting the opportunity to read what is on your heart and mind, your desires and passions, thoughts, and struggles. You have so much to say, so much wisdom to give, and such deep experiences and desires to share with the community that people from all walks of life, backgrounds, beliefs, and ages can deeply connect with and affiliate with. Keep engaging with the community and making your voice heard. You bring healing, hope, and renewal of mind to many who have the privilege to share in your poetry. In regards to your poem, it is short, yet impactful and powerful because of it. It says all it needs to. It is like the vision or prayer for your life, a praise of gratitude up to God for rescuing you and preserving your life for a reason. I may not know what that reason is, you may not even know, but what we can both conclude is that your life is such a valuable thing even for this poem alone which will help so many people and open their eyes to being as grateful as you are for their lives. You are an inspiration.
