Gone But Never 4gotten
Your smile so beautiful it will knock
the sun out of the Sky—
But as I look at the Moon and Stars it
becomes impossible for me not to cry—
Now that you are gone I be stuck in a glare,
reminiscing about the times we shared—
And I be wishing to myself, hoping I could give
my life so you and your seed could be spared—
You was so BEAUTIFUL all the way around,
your Kool-Aid smile and your nice fitted shape—
You had a strong mind cause it runs through our family,
but your heart was special,
sweet like a green seedless grape—
You will “Be gone but neva 4gotten”,
and so is that Tragedy—
But I’ma go ahead and wipe away my tears
and smile, cause I know you are in Paradise,
~~ RIP Rose ~~

I love your use of light imagery in the first five lines. Your shift from sunlight to moonlight to harsh glare is a great depiction of emotional transition. I also think “Kool-Aid smile” is brilliant. Despite Rose’s passing, I’m sure you still want her to be proud of you. Keep writing like this and that smile will warm you like the sun. Well done, sir.
This poem is so sweet and moving! I am so sorry for your loss. From this poem, I can really feel how much you love and admire the person whom this poem is about. The way you describe them is so beautiful, straight off the bat with the opening line, “Your smile so beautiful it will knock the sun out of the sky”. Losing someone you love is such a difficult thing to go through, and expressing this grief is also extremely difficult. For that, I admire you. It’s not only difficult to put these feelings into words, but also brave to publish them for others to read and find comfort in. Amazing work!
Wow, this is so heartfelt and moving. You’ve poured so much emotion into this tribute! It really captures the love and loss beautifully. I’m sure Rose would be honored by your words. Keep expressing those feelings!
