Lost Boy

***Dedicated to and Inspired by Green Day***
As I walk the “blvd of broken dreams”
I think about her
And what we use to be
A crushed heart
A “lonely boy”
But “September” is always over
With these “21 Guns”
I open my eyes
On the “high way of i-95”
The broken hearted boy was
“Headed to Canada”
Where he thought he could hide
From the love he wanted no more
“Out goes the Green Day tickets”

This is one of the most creative and original poems I have ever read. The idea of weaving in lyrics from a Green Day song is intelligent. Since I know and enjoy the song, I understand this poem fully. This poem could have been very confusing, but you wrote it very clearly and understandable. My favorite quote is “I open my eyes on the ‘high way of i-95.'” When I read this poem I hear the song in my head while also reading the story of the poem. Great work!

I really enjoy that song and it’s definitely inspiring! I love how you were able to incorporate the lyrics into the poem!

It was a great poem to read while reminding me of a great song! I hope you continue to write and I love the creativity to base it around a song! Best of luck!

Wow, that’s really powerful. You’ve captured the essence of Green Day’s music beautifully in your poem. Great job!
