Wheels Still Turning

Time stops for no one and it’s evident cause I keep getting older

I just caught a flat tire so I’m fixing it on the shoulder

How much will things change the wheels still turning

Will I be forgotten like a tree in the middle of a forest fire burning

It seems the more I worry about this the more about life I’m learning

But I don’t have to reflect cause these wheels still turning

This is gorgeous. I love how he’s able to grasp the simplicity of the whole scheme of time. Nothing can stop it, you just gotta go with it. Beautiful.

I enjoy the rhyming in this poem, for me, it helps make it clear!

“Time stops for no one and it’s evident cause I keep getting older” – Chilling because everyone realizes at some point that time is limited, and the world isn’t this magical place.

“Will I be forgotten like a tree in the middle of a forest fire burning” – This is deep, but I love the wordplay and creativity! Nobody wants to be forgotten. Wish you the best and thanks for writing!

This poem is short and sweet yet emotionally complex, which I love! The profundity of your self-reflection is beautiful to read, and I love how the philosophical questions you raise are triggered by concrete, real-world events – even something as simple as fixing a flat tire. The rhyme scheme makes this poem lyrically roll off the tongue in a very pleasing way, and it’s astonishing how something as infinitely complex as time itself can be simmered down to a single general rule that the person in the poem lives by. This is an absolutely wonderful poem and every second of reading it was a joy. Thank you for writing this, and please continue to write more!
