So Far Away From Home
So far away from home
I’m just cold and alone
With no place to go
So far away from home
I take my mother’s phone
When I ran from home
I put a note on her bed
And she thought I was dead
So far away from home

Your poem conveys a lot of emotion. It feels lonely. Good work! Keep writing!
So simple, short, haunting but beautiful. You leave the reader wondering what has happened in the past, what’s happening now, and what will happen to the writer.
Excellent job!
“Home” is a very powerful word. It says a lot about you. And of course, “mother” is even more powerful. Those two words show the unconditional love you have in your life. Beautiful piece.
This poem packs an incredibly visceral punch in just a few short words, which is an amazing feat. Your imagery is simple but morose, haunting, longing, and aching. One thing I learned in Poetry Class was to use a lot of concrete images and concrete events, which you implemented in a stunningly effective way. This poem rings with sorrow and regret, which truly pulled at my heartstrings and made me feel intensely. Few poems can garner that kind of reaction from me, which makes this one truly special. You are clearly an artist, a poet, and a speaker of the harshest kinds of truths. Beautiful, stunning, sad. Please write more, and if you do, I will seek them out as best I can to have the privilege of reading your words again.
