Free Mind
By SC
They say that your body can be locked-down,
but your mind is always free;
that your eyes can be closed shut,
yet wide open for you to see.
They say that you can be deaf,
but hear like you’re not;
that if you can think a little,
then you can imagine a lot.
They say that your hands are meant to feel,
and your nose is meant to smell,
but I’m not able to do much
while I’m locked-down in this cell.
Yeah, they thought they had me,
but I thought of this to a tee.
This shyt will never stop
as long as my mind is still free.

This is very powerful and a compelling message – thank you for sharing friend
Inspiring and defiant. As I was reading it I was wondering who the “they” is in this and by the end of the poem it’s much more clear. It’s the prison, it’s the society that has put you in the prison. I hope you feel like your mind is still free.
