Letting go isn’t easy
When it’s time I will be free
I will be free to be who I want to be
Take a deep breath and let the stress fly away
Leave your past astray
Sometimes we all need a break
Trying so hard to stay awake
Letting go is a process
Letting go of the past
Thinking about all you have to the last

This is such a small, unassuming poem, but it packs a lot of emotion. Letting go, especially of the past, IS hard, and it takes time and effort. But you can do it–can’t you see that you’re already doing it with this poem?

Your first words “letting go isn’t easy” completely epitomize how I feel in this current moment in time. You see, I lost a loved on to a debilitating terminal illness called ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). Inevitably, when one is diagnosed with such illness, they will only have a few years to live. In my case, I had to learn the process learning to let go over the course of seven years. All in all, letting go is painful and nothing will prepare you with the tools to be equipped for that final moment.

Letting go is not an easy thing to do. You cannot start the next chapter if you kept on reading the previous one. Letting go does not mean that you are giving it all up, on the contrary, it means you are ready to accept the past and ready to move on to the next chapter of your life. Letting go of the past also means that you are opening up a new opportunity for the future.
This poem is sad but powerful. You’re right, letting go isn’t easy; in fact, it’s something that’s very hard for me. This is because I seem like I’m not a sensitive person but I am. Change is hard for people and can make letting go hard. Humans like a pattern and to keep things the same because we get used to our daily schedule. Letting go of the past is hard, but when you think about it you cant go back so you might as well go forwards. You got this and remember the best is yet to come!
