As I proceed to succeed
Relieved from all this grief
What’s needed is for freedom to ring
Continue as you are
My shining star
I look far beyond the moonlight
So bright there you are
Rewind back to the times
I find peace in mind
Sixteen knee-deep in the grind
As I climbed
The ladder of success
To your birth
A blessing sincerely no disguise
I see me in you
In life it’s you -n- me
Father/daughter bond of ours
No power can come against
The unconditional love as one
For another we show no being bent
Nor broken
I’m not leaving you nor forsaken
My all is for you
You’re whom I’m with
Through it all
Baby-girl
My world to you

When I was a baby, my parents would sometimes write letters to me to read once I grew up, telling me how lucky they felt to have me and how much they loved me. Having those kinds of letters is so meaningful and special now that I’m an adult, and I’m glad that they saved them all these years. I think you should consider saving this and any other poems you write for your daughter to show to her when she’s older. This is such a tender poem with true, sincere feelings, and I think that your daughter will treasure it and feel grateful that she has this record of how much you have always loved her. If you continue writing them as she grows up, it could also be a record of your relationship and the special bond you have shared over the years. It’s just a suggestion, but I know that if I were your daughter, I would want to read this poem.

I found the line, “A blessing sincerely no disguise” so incredibly powerful because it took the cliche (a blessing in disguise) and twisted it around to surprise your readers. Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem, and please write more!
