The Reason

By CR

I once thought that I’d be right now out there with my men
But now I only think about the tragedies I’ve been through with my men
Almost been killed more than my hands can count
And still I’m out there doing me
Now I see the reason why Allah put me here
To get more knowledge and change my mindset
I can say that I’ve been getting knowledge
But my mindset is still stuck on them streets

    CR,
The soul reveal in this poetry is all about seeking his station in Allah’s world. The author is increasingly aware of the value of knowledge; he is seeking wisdom; he is a noble soul.

CR, it may feel like your mindset is “stuck,” but it’s clear from your writing that you are making real change and going in the right direction. Big personal changes are never fast or easy, but you’re doing what you need to do. And you’re a great writer! This poem does a really good job of showing how the struggles in your past have impacted you and what your motivation is to change.

I agree with the other comment – you are a “noble soul.” It takes maturity, strength, and courage to keep working for change when the results don’t come quickly. Keep it up!

    CR,
May I correct my earlier comment to read: “The soul revealed in this poetry…”
The soul is immortal. To me, this means that the virtues we develop in this world will equip us with spiritual powers needed in the next world of Allah.

[I liked this and three others liked it before me.] 🙂

    Dear CR,

The streets are a home to so many people. What is it about the streets that keeps your mindset stuck?

So many tragedies. Your men are still out there, and you are not. Is this what is on your mind? It is not a ‘place’ to leave, it is what is often the closest family known.

I hope you are okay in your mind, and that the knowledge you seek comes to you.

    Love,
    Anasera

    Dear CR,

I believe this is the knowledge you are seeking at this moment, my friend:

“The Báb was a young merchant of the Pure Lineage. He was born in the year one thousand two hundred and thirty-five [A.H.] on the first day of Muharram,* and when after a few years His father Siyyid Muhammad-Rida died, He was brought up in Shiraz in the arms of His maternal uncle Mirza Siyyid ‘Ali the merchant. On attaining maturity He engaged in trade in Bushihr, first in partnership with His maternal uncle and afterwards independently. On account of what was observed in Him He was noted for godliness, devoutness, virtue, and piety, and was regarded in the sight of men as so characterized….”

    Hey CR,
Thanks for being honest with us. I bet it takes a lot to open up about this “stuck” mentality, but guess what? You writing and venting abut it, is allowing you to break free from it.
    Keep up the good work!

      Dear CR,
It is true that each word you have written has the power to open new doors. I hope to keep reading your work; I find inspiration in your words.

CR, great poem, I enjoyed your honesty. Please continue to grow and let the negative aspects of the streets motivate you to become a better individual. Maybe you could pass on your knowledge to those individuals in the streets.
