
Program Specialist
Araba Dennis is a Program Specialist with Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop, supporting a range of organizational programs and working as a co-facilitator for Free Minds book clubs held at the DC Jail. She joined Free Minds as a program intern in the fall of 2020, supporting the Reentry and Prison Book Club teams. Araba is also a third-year Ph.D. student in the American Studies program at Purdue University. She studies prison culture, state and social policy, and critical theories of race and ethnicity. Prior to joining Free Minds in her current capacity, Araba worked first at a policy think tank supporting immigration reform and education access, and then later spent a year as a development consultant for various social impact organizations. In her free time, Araba enjoys collecting records, doing yoga, and reading (of course!).
