Some Day I’m Gonna

By TG

Someday I’m gonna
learn new things.
How to play the piano
and how to sing.
Someday I’m gonna
write a book
or a love song
with a jazzy hook.
Someday I’m gonna
start to work out
watch my weight
and walk about.
Someday I’m gonna
make new friends
contact old ones
tie up loose ends.
Someday I’m gonna
spend more time
with my family
just me and mine.
Someday I’m gonna
stop saying
Someday I’m gonna
and just do it.

I love this poem! It shows your optimism, which we all need. I hope that you have a chance to do these things soon and find a way to do some of them right now and I hope you share your positive spirit with those around you- not everyone knows how to stay hopeful and you are an important person because of your optimism.

Love this! The rhyme, the meter, the phrasing, it all works together so well! But then the end!! I wish you’d kept going with the rhythm you’d established or just maybe varied it slightly. Someday I’m gonna / spend more time / with my family / just me and mine. / Someday I’m gonna / –what? Work my way through it? need a line that works with “just do it” at the end. Or not. But I wish you’d kept it going because this is so brilliant up to that point. thank you! –Molly

Beautifully simplistic. I love it. The best kind of inspiration! Keep writing. You have something to say that is worth hearing.

    TG,

Great poem with such an optimistic message. Everyone always says that they’ll do something one day and that one day hardly comes. It’s great how you acknowledge that and it’s easy to tell that you’re determined to turn your somedays into a reality. I’m excited to see where you go from here!

I really enjoyed this poem! I feel that I always make promises to myself that I never keep as well, whether its starting a new book or trying to start daily routines. The last line is what drove it home for me. One day there won’t be those empty promises, but it still is uncertain to when that is. It was a great and simple way to add mystery to it, opposed to saying something such as “I’ll do it tomorrow.” I lost liked your to-do list. It seems like a good start to being happy and healthy. Keep writing your poetry, TG!

    TG,

I really felt this poem, especially the last few lines. We spend so much of our lives waiting for the “somedays,” it took me a long time to try to reframe life for myself. Sometimes everything feels so hard you just want to get through the now—just make it through the day or the week or the year—but then we look back and realize that all the time we spent surviving could’ve been spent living.

Today I’m going to start with my loved ones; let them know how much they mean to me.

    Thank you for writing.

Touche my friend, Touche. This was a very clever way of summing up hopeful thinking. Lets put those thoughts to work.

    TG,

I am incredibly inspired by your outlook on life. Having big ambitions is a great way to try and meet goals you plan on achieving in life. Voicing those thoughts and putting them in writing is most certainly the best way to hold yourself accountable in perusing those dreams. I wish you nothing but the best in your days ahead. May peace be with you.

I really liked how straightforward this poem is because it reminded me of enjoyable it can be to open yourself up to new experiences. I have a bad habit of letting my anxiety get in the way of this, but life is full of risks. Although, I must admit my desire to learn to play the piano far outweighs my fear that I’ll be bad at it.

    Hi TG,

I really enjoyed reading your poem because I think almost everyone who reads this can relate to it. As humans, life gets busy and things get in the way of other things, or things we meant to do, or goals we had that got put on the back burner. In that way, your poem shows the things that you would like to do in your life, things that have been forgotten, things that got away from you. Specifically, I have always wanted to write a book, as you stated in your own poem. Also, your lines of “Someday I’m gonna make new friends/contact old ones, tie up loose ends”. I loved this part because again, I think everybody can relate to losing contact with old friends or going separate ways for no reason other than life simply got at you. I loved your writing because it shows the promises that lay ahead of you, and the goals you have set out to do.
    Great work!

    Best,

    Hi TG,
I really enjoyed reading this poem. It is simple, but very powerful. I think this resonates with a lot of people, because I think we often make lists of things we need to do and make promises to ourselves that we are going to complete these tasks but struggle to do so. I know that I do. The ending was my favorite: “Someday I’m gonna stop saying some day. Someday I’m gonna and just do it.” I really liked your optimism here. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Hi TG,

I like the message of your poem. It serves as a reminder that life is fleeting and that we should make the most of it by following our dreams and passions. The poem’s final line is my favorite: “Someday I’m going to stop saying, Someday I’m going to, and just do it.” This line encapsulates your message: we must take action in order to achieve our goals. It is easy to put off our dreams and goals, but if we continue to say “someday” without taking action, we may never see them come true.

Thank you for your encouragement. It reminds me that I have the ability to shape my future by taking action toward my objectives. I’m motivated to make a list of my own goals and take steps toward achieving them.
