Poem: “Encouragement”

Encouragement

I know it’s hard to prevail in some difficult times.

So I write to encourage you – whoever – not to lose your mind.

Situations can be different but never let them break you.

I’m in jail locked down all day but still I write.

Firm I am and my mind fixed tight.

A thing about this situation – never let the cell break you!

Keep you head up like a nose bleed in every situation.

Always know you will make it – your spirit don’t let no one take it.

This poem may not encourage all but I hope some.

Your life is never over until God say it’s done.

Remember every battle you may not win, but know the war has just begun!

I absolutely love the nosebleed analogy! I would never have thought of that, but it’s the part that most reached me…yeah, to keep your head up with that kind of dedication really means something.

I love that you are not just writing for yourself but using your knowledge and experience to write a poem to help someone else. I’m sure this poem will help another juvenile and I hope you listen to your own words.

I want to echo what E Sted said — I hope you will be encouraged by your strength, compassion and poetic abilities!

I am encouraged simply by reading your words! Beyond the poetry of your words, I like that you are looking out for others. Keep up the good work and know that your poetry is inspiring for others to see through their difficulties – big and small! In fact, I will be passing along your poem to a good friend to help encourage them during a difficult time. Thank you for your poetry!

I love the encouragement you bring through your writing! It is so easy to feel defeated when life keeps knocking us down. I want to reiterate your challenge to keep your head up. Although we are beat down we are not broken. Keep writing; we hear you!

Your upbeat spirit despite your circumstances of being in jail in aspiring! I think many of us on the outside take life and our freedoms for granted, and your poem reminded me that despite the hardships we may go through, there is always something to be grateful for! Thank you so much for this wonderful poem!

    Best regards,

    Samantha

This poem is very encouaraging, which is very helpful especially now with everything with COVID going on. It can be easy to get discouraged and aggravated, but the best thing to do is keep going and have a positive outlook. I loved the positivity ingrained throughout your writing, and I hope to read more from you soon. Thank you for sharing.

You speak from experience which brings such originality to the story. You want people to do better than you have, the empathy that you give is incredible and it warms me to see the strength that you exhibit.
