Me + You + Jail

By IS

I remember those days we used to kick it after dark
Kissin’ your neck, my head laid on your heart
Neva thought dat love could ever be split apart
Guess I was wrong cuz dis shyt is just the start
I’m realizing that fantasizing is timeless
Living in this cell
My only comfort is rhyming
Yeah, girl I miss u
Know dat I miss you and all the shyt we done been through
It’s like my love unraveling like some tissue

    IS,
I really like the rhymes you uses in this poem. (Especially heart, apart, and start.) I also am a fan of the imagery you use in the first couple lines because it immediately engages the reader. I love the last image of “love unraveling like some tissue.” Thanks for writing. I’d love to read more!

    Hey IS,
I am a sucker for love and this is such a sweet poem to your girl.
I can only imagine how you two miss each other.
But just remember that you will always have her by your side as long as you continue to keep that positive attitude.

IS, I enjoy how you opened up in your poem. I also liked how you spoke of the love you had for that special girl in your life. Although you may be apart physically from her, it seems as though you all have an undeniable connection that could not be effected by physical separation.
