Make it Happen

By SK

Every time I look in the mirror I ask myself
Do I like who I am?
Sometimes I hate myself
And want to be a better man

Overall I love me
And only want to change a little
I on the road to success
And I’m stuck in the rubble
I see myself on BET, MTV
Being as great as I can be
It starts with a thought
Then a plan
Then action
But it depend on who you are
So make it happen

It’s definitely important to still love yourself even if you want to change some of your actions. I think a lot of people can relate to “Sometimes I hate myself,” but you have a good attitude, always looking forward and figuring out exactly what it is that you need to do to make a change.

Thanks for the poem, SK. The intro is really powerful: “Every time I look in the mirror I ask myself / Do I like who I am? / Sometimes I hate myself / And want to be a better man”. That’s something so many people can relate to, even if their circumstances aren’t exactly the same – I know I’ve felt that way before!

The end of the poem is great too. You’re completely right about what the process of change takes, and it’s good to hear that you’re putting yourself on the right path.

SK, great poem. It is great that you could see that you need improvements as an individual. Continue to work on yourself so that you could achieve the things that you desire to.
