In This Game

By IS

Just a youngin’ in this game
Livin’ life was a struggle
In this skool every day
Getting knowledge was my hustle
Was trying to be a geek
Wasn’t trying to be a dummy,
I was trying to get dis money
And moms always said
You gotta strive to be successful
So I did what I did
‘Cuz I was tired of living stressful
I was tired of being broke
And I was tired being hungry
And living in this world,
The only way was getting money

I think you’re trying to capture how the “skool” you’re in, and the knowledge it gave you, sent you down an unfortunate road. And, as you put it, living in THIS world, all you learn is to go after money. I was wondering whether the success you’re mom wanted you to have was material or whether is was actually something else, but you interpreted it to be money. Thanks for making me think!

    Wow. IS,
This just really had me thinking some deep things!
I like the way this was structured and how I was able to make scenery of it.
    Keep it up!!

IS, I enjoyed reading your poem, I like that you express your feelings. Please know that success is not being rich and having the most money, although wealth often comes with success. Grow and do the positive things you love to do.
