If I Was a Perfect Man
By DB
If I was a perfect man
I would never fall but always stand
For the things I believe and the ones I don’t understand
If I was a perfect man
My manners would be different
Like yes, no, and excuse me ma’am
If I was a perfect man
I would drink out of a glass and not a can
And greet my peers by shaking hands
If I was a perfect man
I would never tell lies to gather fans
Or turn my back against my mans
Or do destructive things to increase or advance
If I was a perfect man
If I was a perfect man
I wouldn’t fly just to land
But soar across to prove that I can
Somewhat be a perfect man

Great poem. Becoming better men is always possible.
What an amazing poem. The line ‘I wouldn’t fly just to land’ was very deeply felt. Your ending clinched it. Keep writing…you have a powerful voice.
If you were a perfect man, you wouldn’t be human. What you described is what makes us human. For all your good or bad habits, whichever, don’t strive for perfection. Strive to be your best YOU. Great writing!
Love this <3

Hey DB,
This is great!
Keep the saying “nobody is perfect” in mind. You want to grow to be of excellence, and that takes time. Learning from your mistakes and dropping bad habits is the first step.
I know you will grow into excellence.

DB,
I love that you end with “somewhat be a perfect man” because it reminds us all that nobody is perfect and we can only strive to be the best possible version of ourselves. Your writing is beautiful. I have read this poem before, but it still hits me how powerful what you are saying is. Thank-you!
DB, I enjoyed your poem on how you have acknowledged that you are not perfect and need to make changes to improve yourself. Always keep in mind that no one is perfect. Continue to strive to be perfect though.
