Dream

By JP

As I find myself getting lost in the world of illusion,
Where perception is nothing more than constant confusion
Which catches me by surprise
Like kids opening gifts on birthdays
and the gift leaves them in utter amazement
Or like doing something and forgetting the task at hand or what you were doing
Or like arguments or hurtful words said
from points being proven

I dream sometimes…
Of broken hearts that I’ve ruined,
Of empty promises never kept,
Of walls of trust being penetrated until hatred is the only emotion left

I dream sometimes…
Of you fully forgiving me
For the mistakes that I made
and how I failed you endlessly

I dream sometimes…

    JP,
I too find it hard sometimes to tell what’s real and what’s an illusion. Your poem illustrates the frustration involved with that very well. You’re a taltented writer; please write more!

This is really good! I love how you end this almost on a cliffhanger so that the reader is left thinking about the poem.

JP, we have all let people down…..this is a commonality (if that’s not a word it should be!) here……we all fail and then move forward as best we can. Words heal, as does this beautiful piece of poetry that is clearly written from the heart! Thank you for this reminder!

    JP,

Heartfelt and sincere words. Readers can tell how deeply you care for this person and how sorry you are for hurting them. But, the first step is always acknowledging that and working towards moving on. Your poem also touches on the humanity in all of us because there’s no person out there that hasn’t let someone down before. Awesome poem and please keep on writing!

    Jp,
Don’t be so hard on urself. No one on this earth is perfect, we all fall short and he who forgives not isn’t worthy of ur love. They key to making mistakes is to learn from them. No one has the right to judge only time will tell if we learn from our mistakes. Much love to u

Hi! This poem holds much power as it conveys your true emotions and feelings in words. You convert your heartfelt words and emotion genuinely come across. You are a very talented writer, and I love how you repeat the phrase “I dream sometimes…” throughout your poem.

This poem is very touching, and very relatable since everybody has dreams about unrealistic things. Instead of dreaming, try and change your actions and strengthen the bonds that you broke so that you possibly could rebuild relationships. This isn’t easy and it requires a positive strong attitude, but if anyone puts there mind to it they can do it. Keep up the great work, and keep on writing, because it seems like a positive outlet for you!
