4 My Son

 By DJ

 Bundle of joy
A beautiful baby boy
I want you to know the sky is the limit
We got Obama and I got you
I know I mess up sometimes
You will learn that’s what humans do
Just know daddy loves you

When you hurt I hurt
When you need I need
Right now you don’t understand
But I hope when you do I will be there
And all of your childhood memories are fond of me

Not like mine
I never knew my dad
And he ain’t know me
This is something I don’t want to repeat

I fought so hard to get a street name
A little bit of street fame
But you have my last name
My blood
Just know Daddy loves you

Something about the joy you feel and the rhymes at the beginning really work for me. It’s bouncy. Then in the last stanza, the rhymes with name, especially with the shift to last name–so different from the street name you were aiming for. Your determination shines through.

Wow! This is a very impressive piece. It was so thoughtful and heartfelt. It is obvious that the author is a very caring person and truly wants the best for his child. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Aw! DJ,
Just imagine the day your son reads this. He will be so proud of you! You are his hero.
I love that you love your child so much, and that he has a dad that will reach for the stars for him.
Continue to hold that everlasting love in your heart for your son.
