Your Soul

It all starts with a vision
A passion to reach great heights
First, it all starts with finding yourself
But this cannot be accomplished overnight
Dig deep into yourself
To a place you’ve never been
To a place where there is only light
The goodness that is within
And when you find it; embrace it
You have just discovered your soul
Attain it and cherish it
It is your inner gold
Let it guide you on your path through life
For this road is not meant to be walked alone
Let it guide you on your path to life
A place where many are not meant to go
So when you finally reach your destination
And success become your stepping stone
Be joyful, be proud
Others may have set the bar but you now own the throne

WOW! I love the rhyming and the message in this poem. I truly believe that every person has goodness in them, even if it is buried deep in their soul and accessible after digging through layers upon layers.

Great! I will definitely be back. I facilitated a theatre workshop at a men’s facility through the Prison Creative Arts Project and appreciate the importance getting the art created inside beyond the prison walls as well as feedback from the outside.

This poem grabs my heart and pulls the stuffing out. It holds such hope and light, for a future vision of something never experienced before. The words are far more meaningful and weighty for me, coming from DL, in the situation he is in right now, than from a preacher on a pulpit.
Something that I have not shared on my blog before, is that I have a brother who was in jail at times in his younger years in life. He made a huge turnaround in his life at around 21 years old. I firmly believe that while there is Life, there is Hope.

DL, I am a big fan of yours and love all the poems you write, and this one is no exception. It has a great flow, an inspirational message, and strong imagery. I can imagine digging deep inside myself until I find the light, and climbing onto the throne because I have “reached (my) destination,” which really in the end is just finding myself. Can´t wait for your next poem.
