Wish I Could Bring You Back

By RW

We started out small
Them small things turned into big things
I reflect off the times we used to be lunchin’ on the block
Getting money, stacking dead faces to the top
We used to hit the mall and just shop
Birds is in the sky, you could put on anything and still be fly

I don’t even club, but I would go to watch your back
That’s the only reason I used to go
I still remember your quote: “One thing about that these n****s knows”
It’s like we was riding around plotting and going to see females yesterday

Now (I have to say things I never thought I would have to say)
It’s been five years now but I’m still here trapped and trying to find my way out
I still remember the good times back when you was here
I never knew that too many good times was going to bring so many tears
One thing I learned from this is “joy is followed by many tears”
I never thought pain could last so many years
You may be out of sight but not out of mind
‘Cause I think about you like you’re still here

Wish I could bring you back to see your son
And show you how he loves you very much
Even when he be acting bad
Wish I could bring you back
And show you how your baby’s mother went on the wrong path

Wish I could bring you back
And show you all those who professed they love you
But when you got killed it’s the same dudes who didn’t keep it real

I notice since you’ve been gone, a lot has changed
The street life bring so much pain with you gone
My life will never be the same
