Thoughts
By RD
Drowning not from water but from thought.
Can’t stop thinking, can’t stop from deep thought.
Sometimes I think too hard and make the situation worse
Sometimes I think so much,
the thing I started thinking about I forget what it is.
Like I can be thinking about bananas, but can be talking about my ears.
Trying to stay on subject but I’m thinking too much
So this poem I will leave incomplete,
But really…who cares!

It’s a great thing to think, sometimes you just have to write down those thoughts to process it. My mind wanders all the time, but that’s what makes us good writers. Hang in There!!
Hey RD – I CARE! Lots of people care. It’s funny, the line about bananas and your ears- good to see your humor still intact. : ) Humor keep us from being too serious and wound up in ourselves. Don’t know what your thoughts on meditation are, but… maybe looking into that could help? Not saying it’s easy, and it will take perseverance. But learning to quiet the mind, it’s a valuable skill. Insight, truth, love, these things can show themselves through meditation. Food for thought?
I love this poem because it truly reminds me of the nights that my head just won’t stop over thinking until I am so tired of being in my own head that I have to grab my notebook and write. I usually end up with 4 to 5 poems afterwards and all on the same subject. You have just explained that itchy feeling I get and with poetry that’s hard to do. I love the unique use of symbolism and examples. Keep it up I am looking forward to more!
