Poem: “Reality”
“Reality”
The reality of my life is that I’m a caged animal.
This cage is where I’m living, eating, sleeping,
and waking up every morning weeping…
They’ll confine/cage me in a coffin that’ll separate
me from the outside…
Outside where a butterfly flies freely
Yet, I’m inside & outside is where I should be,
being that I’m INNOCENT & have repented
for the sins I’ve committed,
being committed and devoted to Allah is
what I’m doing,
relinquish all hope of being released is
what’s soon to happen…
The charges against me are inaccurate
and I’m not in debt to society…
I’m INNOCENT!!!
Yet, all of this is my reality.
The reality of my life is that I’m a caged
ANIMAL…
Drinking up all the Danimals back home
is what I miss…
Missing me back home is what my mom is
doing, enduring pain and grief as if
I’m DEAD.
I’m feeling like I’m dead,
I’m feeling like I’m dying…
If I die in this cage A.K.A grave,
I pray 2 Allah my soul to take.
This will serve as my testament.
I’m no hoodlum, I’m a revolutionist…
I with a profound passion hate the New World
Order regime era; we are ALL living in.
They’re reckless & relentless on becoming a
New God or Religion…Illuminati…it’s NOT
a conspiracy theory…That’s what I believed in…
The day I wake to see the light…
I want it to be a celebration. For I’m at last
FREE…FREE of ALL Reality.

reality is or could be tough,
keep hope and dream alive…
nicely said!

Confining life into a cell with inhumane treatment is inexcusable. My heart reaches out to yours. Stay strong.
It’s impressive to me what people can construe as reality. I think this piece does a good job in highlighting that reality is what we believe to be is true. Finding peace is not easy, but learning that you control your responses, that’s the true freedom.
This is so complex and so deeply intriguing. I truly loved reading this.
Dear “Reality” author,
I truly appreciate the poem. It has a very nice flow and seems to be quite deep. I read this poem twice and it still is simple yet complex. Thank you for sharing your realness with us. I appreciate the depth of the poem and the flow. Please keep writing poetry.
I like this a lot! The rhythm reminded me of a rap song and I found myself reading and bopping my head along, almost like I could hear your poem in my head. That’s so cool!!
I also appreciated your honesty about jail and feeling like a caged animal. I am so sorry that this is your reality, but I am glad that you have shared about your breakthrough and finding religion! I hope you continue to share your story!!
This was a hard poem to read because of the harsh, inhumane realities of living life in prison. Thank you for opening up about your experience, for being so honest about it! Nonetheless, I’m glad you’ve found freedom and some sense of peace, even while in jail.
Best regards,
Samantha
I feel there are a lot of versions of what reality can be, everyone has their own reality, but the mistake is when someone doesn’t want and it’s not interested in understanding what others reality’s are like. Everyone deserves freedom, and I feel this poem expresses that. I hope you keep writing and find your own freedom in your own reality.
There is a lot of emotion and passion that comes out when reading this poem, and you did such a great job emphasizing that with the certain words you put in caps. Keep writing you reality and expressing it, your poem is incredible.
This is a great poem – it must be tough to be so vulnerable, but it comes across so clearly in your work. It’s very passionate and powerful.
This was a very emotionally intense reading. I loved it. Great job!
This a beautiful poem. I really feel as if I am feeling what you are. Keep using writing as an outlet, you are really good at it, and the world needs to hear what you have to say!
I really feel sorry for the author. Even if the author was guilty, no human should be treated that inhumanly. The poem is a powerful and eye-opening perspective that should be made aware to the general public. If I had to make any feedback, it would be that there would be a solid choice of words. The / in the middle really messed me up. I like that you gave multiple words, but gave a more description of the feelings than you wouldn’t have to use the /. That is just me being nit-picky. My best advice to you: keep writing. You have a talent that the world would love to see.
