Poem: “Killing”
“Killing”
Killing is a everyday living
I don’t like stealing but things that’s given
What I like best is sexual healing
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving
I like when my parents is caring
When I die I want to die in my sleep
Rather than getting shot on the street
People say my heart real deep
I’m sick and tired of all these creeps

This is a sad truth. For some people, joining a gang and killing people is the only way of life that they know. Sometimes it is the only source of income when you are denied a job. Sometimes you need to steal to survive. Everyone wants to be human, to live peaceful lives, but sometimes that’s impossible. I hope that you know that you are loved and people care. It might seem like everybody wants something, but you will find people who only want the real you.
Hi! I liked the abstract of your poem and rhyming. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays too. Thankfully, it’s coming up! Please keep putting your words down on paper. Use writing as an outlet in life. Please keep writing.
It’s really sad that this is the world we are living in and it does suck that violence is in the streets and rampant. However, I tend to be on the optimistic side that if a holiday like thanksgiving can remind us of our humanity maybe more people can have that mentality of gratefulness.
Hi author of “Killing”
This is quite an interesting poem. Thank you for sharing your realness with us. I like the end rhyme and flow. This is a real easy to read poem yet it has depth and sad truth. Please continue working on poems.
You really show us the struggle you are going through in a way that we are really able to relate and feel your pain. You bring us into this vulnerable space with you, which is often times not easy to do with poetry.
Thank you for this, for sharing and being so open and vulnerable with us!
I really liked how your poem rhymed and how you really expressed yourself. I enjoyed reading it very much keep writing and expressing yourself in every and any way you can.
What stood out to me was the rhythm of this poem! I liked how it was short, but it captured so much joy and pain mixed together! It was perfect, thank you for sharing!!
Best,
Samantha
“Killing”
Breathing!
Killing is a everyday living
Birthing is Everyday Healing
I don’t like stealing but things that’s given
I don’t like pain but babies that’s a given
What I like best is sexual healing
What I like best is sensual healing
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving
My favorite holiday is his/her birthday
I like when my parents is caring
I like when my child is soothed, cradled and valued
When I die I want to die in my sleep
When he/she dies may they be celebrated and elevated
Rather than getting shot on the street
No more street shots wasting a mother’s dream- new generations redeemed!
People say my heart real deep
People say my heart belongs to each breathe of my child- “Why not!”, I scream.
I’m sick and tired of all these creeps
I heal and revive- conquering all that creeps to steal what I birthed, soothed, celebrated, and dreamed.
You are hereby commanded to Breathe- no killing, no dying, no shooting- JUST LOVE!
I love the rhyming and this poem is so raw. Great job!
I loved the flow and subtle rhyming that you had in your poem.
I liked that you put that thanksgiving is your favorite holiday, Thanksgiving is also my favorite holiday because it is a time when you feel like all of the troubles that you are facing just disappear and you can enjoy time with your family. I also love the turkey!
I like how you didn’t hold back, and I always love a poem that rhymes. Thank you for this. It’s beautiful.
This poem makes me feel very sad because you state that your parents are caring, but then how you want to die. If you die, think about your parents and how they would feel. They would be very heartbroken because they care about you. I like how this poem rhymed in some parts but not others because it showed me variation as a reader. Keep up the great work, you got this!
This poem is very heartfelt and feels like the author really opened up about something so deep and personal. People die every day and the sad truth is that some feel like the only way they can live is by killing or doing things that are harmful to themselves or others because of the position they are in. I think this is a very good poem for people to read and understand the reality that some people have. Thank you for sharing.
I like rhyming how unique, abstract, realistic, and raw this poem is. Great Job!
The idea and rhythm of your poetry were appealing to me. The world we live in is incredibly depressing, and it stinks that there is so much street violence. This poetry is really interesting. I appreciate you being so honest and transparent about this.
