Out of Sight, Out of Mind

By RBS

I’m locked in this cell,
I can’t stop pacin’.
A prisoner of my own thoughts,
That’s why my head keeps achin’.
My nerves real bad,
I sit down,
But can’t stop shakin’.
I’m turning bitter and cold,
Trying not to lose my patience.
My heart beats,
but holds no love,
It’s always breakin’.
‘Cause the ones who s’pose to keep it real,
Always wind up fakin’.
I thought I had a good girl,
A dime worth chasin’,
I ain’t heard from her in a while,
Was I blind, mistaken
Look at all the strong people that this times be breakin’.
Are the stiff sentences for the crimes,
Or are these swines just hatin’?
Love ones at a crossroad in their hearts,
Minds contemplatin,
If we’re still that everything they need,
Or can they find replacements,
So many good men forgot about,
Left behind, forsaken
‘Cause their folks’ decision was that more division was the right equation
Now I find myself staring at the fears they all once were faced with,
Prayin’ God please give my folks a sign,
That I’m still worth the wait

I’m sorry for everything that you are going through. Your situation sounds very difficult. I am thinking of you and hope you will find some peace. Forgiveness is the most powerful thing in the world. I hope that you will forgive others, and yourself, and that they will forgive you. We are all vulnerable and scared, even when we don’t show it. I am thinking of you and wishing you peace of mind and hoping that you find kindness. Don’t give up on kindness.

In the eyes of God, you are always worth the wait. He is God of a second chance, Let your hope, faith and love be in him. Keep your eyes on him. He will see you through his love, mercy and faithfulness. People fail us and even we fail ourselves at times. Almighty God will never fail us.

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

How powerful. As I followed the words down the page, I felt such an ache in my heart for the life you’ve walked through so far. I can almost see your anguish like a tangible mist floating about you. I hope getting those feelings out of your mind and into a poem acted like a sort of exorcism for you. I want someone to cross your path who will convince you that you’re more than worth the wait.

    RBS,

I’m sorry for the negativity that’s swarming you, but keep the hope! Your writing is very powerful and heartfelt, your feelings jump off the page for readers. Even if you feel that you’re out of mind for loved ones, you’re being recognized through your writing!

You sound like you have so much potential but you got caught up. Continue to exercise your mind! Ask about the programs in there to further your education or job experience. Show them all you were worth waiting on.
