Last Summer

By DW

Sleepless nights and endless love
Distractions afar
The summer haze clouding the world around us
Discrete discussions
Fingers entwined and hearts sealed
Chasing dreams of quiet storms and warm winters
Looking in to your emerald worlds
My fears ceased

I really appreciate the way this shows the mind traveling away from captivity. Well done.

    Hi DW,
A truly lovely poem and writing effort. I love the lack of formal stanzas and rhyming, which younger poets can over-use. I really love the “summer haze” and emerald worlds. Very well done soft tone.
    Best,
    Emily

DW, I love this! Wow. The imagery is fantastic. I can feel the humid, hot, hazy summer with all of it’s discomforts. But this is only a backdrop, or a setting for a time of real love and passion. I hope we can all remember a time when we were transfixed by someone and how nothing else in the world seems to matter. It’s a beautiful feeling and a beautiful part of life. One that a mind will go back to over and over again. You captured that brilliantly. Great work, keep it up!

    All my best to you,

    Adam

DW, Wow. I don’t know where to begin. This is simply beautiful. I absolutely love your descriptions and imagery. You really capture your summer and make me feel like i’m there with lines like “Looking in to your emerald worlds.” I hope you keep that love and have a wonderful summer!

Hi! This poem is written so well, and you do a great job expressing and converting your thoughts into a form of poetry. You use some very distinct phrases such as “summer haze” and “emerald worlds” which I found was cool to read.

This poem is very relatable and calming to read. Distractions are helpful in certain situations and not in others. Make yourself think about different things and ideas while something else is happening. Summer is a distraction and helps many people relax at the thought of it. Love is blind and if you love someone so much they are like a distraction to you from the real world. You got this and remember the best is yet to come!

    Hi DW,

What a fantastic love poem! Summer always has a way of being a little bit more special than all the other seasons, and you truly captured how special this specific summer was to you. I love your line “The summer haze clouding the world around us” was my favorite part. You had great imagery in your poem that created passion and strength to your poem. I hope you keep writing and sharing these magical moments with us all!
